One of our neighbours in the small town of Pilibangan had a small masala chakki in his house. He would grind red chillies, turmeric, coriander and other spices, supplying them to local shopkeepers.
The chillies were always ground at night, with all the doors and windows closed, so that people wouldnโt complain. Still, while walking past that side, our eyes would burn, our throats would itch,
While grinding he would keep his face covered. Even then, he would cough incessantly. But he had a family to feed. As a child I saw him lose his health rapidly. The man died of tuberculosis at around 55 years of age.
For some the workplace itself is the biggest health hazard.
Sitting at a hotel reception and scrolling through my picture gallery, came across these pics of a weekend lunch. On my plate is ivy gourd, sambhar, onion chutney, and rice with ghee ๐ฒ
I don't remember the first time I ate Biryani. But ever since I can remember having a favourite Biryani place, it has to be this place called Venu's Biryani in BTM layout, Bangalore. Nothing fancy about this place. A few tables and chairs. But the Biryani (or palav as some might call it) is cooked to what I think is near to perfection. Order a side of chicken fry and you are good to go. A snap from one of those afternoon lunches in Venus.
Finally got to visit Smash Guys Burgers in Indiranagar. The highlight of the night were the corn ribs. Don't forget to order a side of seasoned bone marrow! Tell the staff your taste preferences and they will suggest the right burgers ๐
The legendary fluffy idlis and coconut chutney of Veena stores. Accompanied with medu vadas and upma. The chutney was so delicious that we literally ended up having 5 to 6 servings!
Thursdays are no non-veg days at home. Today the plan was to have khichdi. However, we decided to switch to boiled rice, sambhar, aloo bhaji, and papad. A dinner well done ๐
When you have been travelling and eating hotel food and all you want to do is get back home and indulge in a home cooked meal ๐คค. Throwback snaps of a weekend lunch. On my plate; pork, a few different salads and chutneys, and rice.
