The mythical story of Adam and Eve, as told in Genesis 2–3 of the Bible, first appears in written form around the 10th–9th century BCE.

The Rig Veda had already been composed by then.

If we consider the Biblical narratives as oral traditions, they may go back to the second millennium BCE, there is no firm evidence placing them earlier than this.

Hindus were worshipping Pashupati (Śiva) long before that.
