Elated to be featured on the cover of @NatureEnergyJnl . Just transitions require disrupting gendered norms ans power https://t.co/ht3PewP80l needs to be understood not as purely technical but relational and embedded in our daily lives and lived realities.
This month’s cover goes to @kavyamichael and colleagues who explore the role of interventions prioritising care and knowledge in locally led energy transition initiatives and how they may contribute to the disruption of established gender norms. https://t.co/0ylFZbT0ca
Empowering women – a key to both sustainable energy and gender justice https://t.co/lT3cxfrhpc Check out our new article in @NatureEnergyJnl where we combine care and epistemic justice to analyse the Solar Mamas Program of Barefoot College, Zanzibar.
Do you conserve #energy?
65% of surveyed households tend to often or always engage in #EnergyConservation behaviours, like minimising heating and cooling or air-drying laundry👕

Really fascinated by this new paper in @NatureEnergyJnl
Climate transitions bear a risk of replicating unjust gendered norms in our current energy regimes. But interventions that prioritize care & knowledge could disrupt established gender relations.

We argue that interventions prioritizing care and knowledge in decentralized, locally managed energy provisioning have the potential to disrupt established gender relations. #energytransitions#care#genderandenergy
Excited to inform that our article on the Solar Mamas Program in Barefoot College Zanibar is published in @NatureEnergyJnl . Link here https://t.co/hJHoPIqgZ5
Our findings illustrate the need for energy transitions research, policy and practice to be deeply informed by lived experiences, diverse practices of care within the energy webs and valuing of multiple voices.
We're being treated to a deep dive into decolonial and feminist energy transitions by @kavyamichael thru the case of Barefoot College (which we also study in Rajasthan on the @forskningsradet ASSET project) on Zanzibar, mobilising lenses of care and epistemic injustice. Riveting!
Off to Bergen for this annual highlight of Day Zero at the SDG Conference @UiB (with teaching on the student-led @UiBCET sustainable innovation course first), where Shayan Shokrgozar and I examine 'Charting Desirable Energy Futures' with @kavyamichael and Carlos Tornel. Excited!
How does Sweden's image as a gender equality champion and welfare policies promoter fare when delving into the National Energy & Climate Plan?

Thanks to Helene Ahlborg for a fantastic keynote on a chimeric approach to transformation, with insightful engagement by @mcbrisb and @drk75 complemented by lots of questions from an engaged audience. A delight to chair, absorbingly educative. Right here at #beyondoil23
We explore what it takes to ensure a comprehensive and just transition, particularly in relation to people's livelihoods and the integration of gender justice into climate policy. @AroraJonsson@manishipta
