Emmett Till was abducted and brutally murdered on this day in 1955. He was only 14.
To this day, lynching is still not considered a federal hate crime. Our country must work to confront this dark, shameful part of our nation’s history and right this wrong.
I’ve gotten emails taking issue with my tweet about the #RoseGarden. I said it now looks like a “neo-fascist parade ground.” I’ve now seen aerial photos and realize I was wrong. It looks either like a 1930s Roman piazza or the front of a 1950s Moscow monument. I regret the error.
Somehow this is neither an unlawful assembly or a riot even though guns have been drawn and pointed at people, brawls have broken out, explosives have gone off. Seeking comment from PPB on why they’re allowing this to continue.
Lori Loughlin was just sentenced to two months in prison for paying bribes to get her daughters into USC.
This is the same system that sentenced Crystal Mason, a Black mother of three, to five years for voting when she didn't realize a past felony conviction made her ineligible.
#JoeBiden did a terrific job. I’ve covered him for decades and that’s the best speech, and best delivered speech, he’s given. He summoned all the energy and experience he had to try to meet his most important moment, and he succeeded.
Brayden Harrington, the 13-year-old boy from New Hampshire with a stutter, was quite amazing. He was so brave and delivered that speech like a champ.

This DNC virtual roll call is one of the first examples of a convention aspect that seems stronger than the traditional way of doing things. It’s fascinating to see the diversity of the United States and Americans in so many places with cultural and geographic differences.
For 22 years, Oregon has voted securely by mail. Over 150 million Americans in 42 states can vote by mail this November. Let's make it all 50 states! No one should have to risk their life to cast a ballot.

It’s very effective to send a medic and a crisis worker instead of police to some calls, and it’s working in Oregon. I’m pleased to join @RepPeterDeFazio and @RepBlumenauer to introduce the Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets (CAHOOTS) Act to bring this model nationwide.
The electoral college has deeply racist roots. As we address systemic racism in America, the electoral college has to go. I’ve introduced a constitutional amendment to do just that.
