“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.” #iBelieve#MLK
Today, I laid a wreath in Hyde Park to honour the 52 innocent people killed on 7 July 2005.
We honour those injured, the families who carry the loss, and the heroic emergency responders who ran towards danger that day.
London remembers. You will never be forgotten.
City Hall funding means more officers on the streets in the West End and hotspots across London working in partnership with retailers to crack down on prolific offenders and make London a no-go zone for shoplifting and antisocial behaviour and build a safer London for everyone.
Strengthening partnerships to tackle retail crime has been top of the agenda this week for me and Deputy Mayor for Business & Growth @howarddawber.
On Wednesday we joined the @metpoliceuk & @the_brc to discuss reporting, digital evidence & game changing Live Facial Recognition.
And on Thursday we joined representatives from London Business Improvement Districts in a roundtable discussion on our work to support and protect London’s economic development.
More from my time in Ilford this week. Tackling antisocial behaviour takes strong partnership working. ASB is never “minor” - it can make people feel unsafe and unwelcome in their own communities. Watch how we're working together to tackle it.
Backed with record @MOPACLdn funding, the MPS ASB Action Plan commits to closer working with councils, housing providers, transport partners and communities to solve complex problems. Good to join @MPSRedbridge, @RedbridgeLive & @IlfordBID today to see this approach in action.
Yesterday, I joined @LondonLiia to launch the London Child Remand Project. Partnership working and a London commitment to Child First will deliver positive interventions and alternatives to unnecessary custody, aimed at reducing reoffending and building safer communities.
Someone has to say it.
The amount of racism directed at World Cup players - including in the England squad - on this platform is out of control.
We cannot allow a vile vocal minority to divide our nation. A lot of this content is illegal and Ofcom should be investigating.
Solidarity with every player targeted. We are united.
Here in London, you're free to be who you want to be, and love who you want to love ❤️
Thank you to everyone who joined us at tonight's City Hall Pride event!
London is proud to stand with our LGBTQI+ communities, today and every day.

I’ve long called for stronger enforcement for perpetrators of violence against women and girls.
I support the Government’s move towards extending sentences for those who kill their partner to 25 years.
Justice must be delivered for victims and their families.
Today, we created space for honest conversations with London’s LGBTQI+ communities about policing, safety and trust in the police. Their voices matter, and we continue to embed their insights into the work we do to shape real change.
Four years ago Zara Aleena was horrifically taken from her family, friends, and loved ones. They are in my thoughts today.
Zara believed in a kinder, fairer world. We owe it to her to keep building a city where women and girls are and feel safe.
The TLDR version of our new report on the urgent threats we face from man-made global heating.
If this doesn't scare you, it should. We're acting in London, but we need global, coordinated action on the climate crisis immediately.
• London could experience two or three times more heatwaves each year for the next 20 years.
• UK-wide heat-related hospital attendances and admissions could triple by 2050 compared to current levels. These impacts are disproportionately concentrated in London.
• We are already seeing the consequences. London experiences around 3,996 heat-related A&E attendances every year, around one and a half times the level seen elsewhere in England.
• One million London homes may be at high risk of overheating, with more than 1,300 schools, 60 hospitals and 351 care homes located in high heat risk areas.
• In 2025, London also experienced its highest number of wildfires since the extreme heat of 2022. Firefighters attended around 88 wildfires across the capital during June, July and August, with 122 wildfire incidents recorded by the end of August. This is double the number seen in 2023 and a 42 per cent increase in 2024. This trend highlights the growing risk from hot and dry conditions.
Last week I joined a special service to remember Makram Ali and all those affected by the tragic 2017 Finsbury Park terror attack.
In London, we will never tolerate Islamophobia or hatred of any kind and we will always champion diversity as we build a safer London for everyone.
Nine years ago, a London community was targeted in an act of anti-Muslim hatred. Makram Ali lost his life. I attended a remembrance service in his memory and for all those impacted. Challenging Islamophobia and all forms of hate remains a priority.
NEW: An independent report from @imperialcollege shows major reductions in air pollution in our city are linked to an estimated 40% fewer annual premature deaths.
The evidence is clear: the bold action we've taken to clean up our air is saving lives.

I’m proud to be a Londoner and that crime across our city is falling. At today’s Police and Crime Committee I challenged the misleading narrative that London’s crime is out of control.
The rise in abuse and violence against our frontline workers is completely shameful. It has to stop.
I’m calling on all Londoners to stand shoulder to shoulder with our frontline workers and put our values of equality, inclusion and respect into action.
The fight against phone theft is working. New security measures from phone companies, combined with Met action against offenders and organised criminal networks, alongside City Hall investment in drones and e-bikes, are helping to drive down phone thefts.
