Professor Megan Davis has described as “disappointing and really inflammatory” Warren Mundine’s labelling of the Uluru Statement as a symbolic declaration of war against modern Australia. @mdavisqlder

Over 100 health organisations recognise that a Voice to Parliament will help to close the gap. Please consider this when casting your vote on Saturday 14 October #VoteYes
For all those in #MedEd "doing exploratory qualitative work using open-ended items on a #survey," I beg you to please READ this paper by @Kori_LaDonna and @LingardLorelei, since a survey is likely the wrong tool for the type of qualitative work you intend to do...
"One example is "qualitatively" analyzing free-text responses to survey or assessment instrument questions. In this Invited Commentary, the authors explain why analysis of such responses rarely meets the bar for rigorous qualitative research. While the authors do not discount the potential for free-text responses to enhance quantitative findings or to inspire new research questions, they caution that these responses rarely produce data rich enough to generate robust, stand-alone insights. The authors consider exemplars from health professions education research and propose strategies for treating free-text responses appropriately." https://t.co/zCG3mKSp9n
Missy Higgins knows the kind of Australia we should all wake up to - one that has decided to finally listen and overwhelmingly voted yes! #VoteYes#VoiceToParliament#HistoryIsCalling
Usyd History has issued a statement in support of the Voice, and some podcasts for historical context. Please read, circulate and vote Yes. “Not clear,” & “don’t understand” are not good enough. Plenty of info available https://t.co/4aXgeOfTxn @UsydSoH@Sydney_Uni@ArtSS_Sydney
A message from Dr Victoria Fielding, Lecturer in Strategic Communication at The University of Adelaide.
Between now and the Voice referendum I will be managing a team of research assistants to document and analyse the Murdoch Media’s coverage of the referendum. We’ve just finished our first week – and I am already alarmed at what we’re seeing.
My team is analysing coverage from The Australian, The Daily Telegraph, The Herald Sun and Sky News. Our methodology identifies which voices and arguments are included, and how those voices are characterised down to specific words. In our first week we analysed 126 pieces of content and found:
•Of the Murdoch Press referendum coverage that contained an argument, 76% reflected messages from the No campaign.
•72% of their characterisations directly villainise the people advocating for Yes, with a significant portion of these attacks being directed at Anthony Albanese.
•Many arguments platformed against the Voice are premised on misinformation, including claims there are no details, and divisive false accusations that the Voice gives Aboriginal people special privileges.
•Sky News commentators who oppose the Voice were given a substantially bigger platform than those who support it. For example, Andrew Bolt had approximately eight times more anti-Voice coverage than Chris Kenny, who is in support.
It's a misconception that to be a generalist means you know a little amount about a lot of things. General Practitioners are highly-trained specialists who know a large amount about a lot of things. The rise of the generalist is coming!

Absolutely devastating. Many important lessons to be learned about a legal system where winning is more important than truth (or admitting uncertainty) & about the nature of medical ‘expertise’. The long standing support of friends is commendable & valuable. #MedEd@BJRichards8
I cannot comprehend the devastation of Kathleen Folbigg. To lose four children and then be wrongly convicted for murdering them and spend two decades behind bars! Worse fates are hard to imagine. I hope she is allowed to get on with her life now as she chooses.
