Long before the Council of Nicaea, long before medieval cathedrals, and long before Christianity became a dominant force in the Roman world, Christians were already making an extraordinary confession: Jesus Christ is Lord.
And this page from Papyrus 46 one of our earliest physical witnesses to that confession. I just launched the newest manuscript in my facsimile collection and it is none other than the very test of Philippians 2 that contains this amazing “Christ Hymn.” Check it out and get your own personal copy at https://t.co/kndi8uK6rg.
@NoNameJoe2 Reflecting on this convo, what drives people who don’t believe in God to argue so passionately about Him? If He doesn’t exist, why engage in such heated debates? Deep down, we all know the truth. I hope you can be honest and begin to understand your reasons for disliking God.
@NoNameJoe2 So, yes. God can say this righteously, like here to the Philistines who were ruthless & sought to destroy His people.
“I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I take vengeance on them.’ ”
Ezekiel 25:17
@NoNameJoe2 You need to read passages in context, especially historical context applied to ancient Israel. The Lord is the Almighty. He is just & therefore punishes unrepentant sin. In fact, because He is God,He does whatever He pleases as long as it is consistent with His character.
@NoNameJoe2 If you compare faiths and you will see that it’s only one that’s not about earning God’s forgiveness and mercy, the only one where he freely gives it. It’s one where the God-man dies for His people.
@NoNameJoe2 There I agree. What I meant in actuality is it takes faith to see the evidence.
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6
@NoNameJoe2 I would rather trust the obvious evidence. All there is points to the existence of God. People reject God for three reasons: 1. Desire for autonomy - own rule, 2. Suppression of Truth and 3. Spiritual blindness. I pray your eyes will be opened to sin and need for salvation.
@NoNameJoe2@BBCBreaking It’s sad to see that rational people believe in the impossibility that everything came from nothing. The is no ‘big bang’ without the Banger! There’s no singularity without the One who spoke everything into existence. Evidence is all around you.
@kingofwoke@BBCBreaking “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.”
Psalms 116:15
He is at home with the Lord because he believed in the salvation sent to him. He believed he was a sinner in need of a Saviour. He will spend eternity in God’s presence!
@SkyNews Robert is by far better with the Lord, not because he was great guy, but because he believed in Christ. What can you say about your future?
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”
John 3:36
@leoniegiles@Dov1690@BBCBreaking@BBCNews We can with full confidence in Christ say that Robert Guanco is at home with the Lord for eternity. What can you say about your future? Why don’t you test your hypothesis against all the evidence. Jesus Christ is not only real, but all reality holds together because of Him.
@Dov1690@BBCBreaking@BBCNews “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar..”
@Dov1690@BBCBreaking@BBCNews But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire..
