Every person you encounter has value. Has purpose. Has something remarkable to offer. But too often, we’re so focused on what we want to see, that we miss what’s already there.
Leadership isn’t about finding flaws. It’s about discovering brilliance. 💡
Let’s be the kind of people who look deeper, who see potential, and who bring out the best in others. That’s where the magic happens.

(From the classic book Children Moving)
However today there's is a growing concern over the upper body strength of children and adolecents. Fewer physical chores, a decrease in safe outdoor play spaces, and an increase in sedentary activities, such as television and computers have produced a generation of youngsters...often described as excellent in fine motor skills but very weak in arm and shoulder strength. Lack of strength in the back and abdominal muscles is associated with poor posture and lower back problems later in life. The vigorous physical activities that develop cardiovascular endurance also develop muscular strength and endurance in the legs. Upper arm and shoulder strength and abdominal strength are enhanced through activities that focus on supporting the hands, transferring weight involving the hands, gymnastic balances requiring muscular tension, stretching actions of the trunk and challenging activities on gymnastic and play ground equipment.

10++++ reasons why children need youth athletic development:
1. Because in many schools (not all!) Physical Education is at the bottom of the curriculum…
2. Because recess keeps getting shorter and shorter
3. Because the ABCs of Movement: AGILITY BALANCE and COORDINATION are the cornerstone of learning sports-specific skills…
4. Because many children these days cannot skip, balance on one leg, or climb the monkey bars…
5. Because sport alone has done little to solve the obesity crisis…
6. Because I often see empty neighborhoods and abandoned sandlots...
7. Because playing one sport develops only one-sided athletes...
8. Because of those little rectangles, we call cell phones, iPads and xboxes…
9. Because playgrounds became too safe when merry-go-rounds and see-saws got banned…
10. Because school lunch pizza is considered a vegetable…
11. Because the Injury rate of Youth Athletes continues to rise…
12. movement skills can allow us a lifetime of health and wellness
13. Because vigorous movement makes children happier, healthier and smarter...
12. Because somewhere in China there is a group of 10-year-old girls stronger than your 12-year-old boy.
