I’m finally settling in to the new title and am grateful to my advisors and the amazing members of the @SwagerGroup and @SmithLabMIT for accepting me and supporting me in this endeavor!
Congratulations to Dr Kayla Storme, for her MIT PhD on the development of intrinsically porous polymers for gas separation. Photo with PhD advisors Smith (Chem. Engr.) and Swager
We have two group members, Kayla Storme and Michael Ocheje, presenting at #NOBCChE2023 today at 4 and 5pm Central! Check them out if you're interested in exciting new approaches to sidechain engineering for polymer membranes (Kayla) or organic electronics (Michael)!
I had a wonderful time attending the Charter II @NOBCChE Collaborative meeting this past week at @CarnegieMellon with some of my fellow MIT Chemists! Thank you @ChemistryMIT for supporting us and the @SwagerGroup and @SmithLabMIT for supporting me!
Our first-year grad student Collette Gordon is presenting a poster titled “Fabrication of Conductive Polymers for Sensing Applications” this afternoon at the NOBCCHE Collaborative II Spring Meeting from 3:30-5:00pm. If you’re there stop by and say hi to hear about her work!
I am honored to have been able to present my research at the Excellence in Graduate Polymer Research Symposium at ACS Spring in Indianapolis earlier today! Thank you to everyone who made the talk and especially @POLY_ACS for hosting this wonderful opportunity.
@AndyDorfeuille and I have the booth (#109) ready for the #NOBCChE2022 expo tomorrow! If you’re braving the hurricane, stop by for stickers, pins, to enter our raffle for a swag bag, sign up to meet faculty, and, best of all, get the inside scoop on @ChemistryMIT!
Very excited to be attending @NOBCChE 2022 with @AndyDorfeuille as reps for @ChemistryMIT! Visit us at booth 109 for info on MIT Chemistry research opportunities, the PhD program, to enter our raffle, & more. You can also sign up to meet with faculty here: https://t.co/WS6WTObUyj
Honored to have been nominated for this award! Thank you to @MIT_WIC, @GSC_DEI, @ChemistryMIT, and both @SwagerGroup and @SmithLabMIT for supporting me in my endeavors to improve graduate student well-being in our community.
Congrats to Kayla Storme (@KaylaStorme) for winning the 2022 MIT Golden Beaver award! 🎉 The award is given to undergrad or grad students who have "created positive change within a student organization, living group, dorm, or team."
I'm excited to present on poly(ladder) ROMPs today at #ACSFall2022! Come see my oral presentation this morning at 10:20AM or stop by my Sci-Mix poster this evening.
GSC DEI is launching The Food Connection, a new initiative to address food insecurity on campus! Stop by our table on Wednesday 12/15, 4-8PM in Stata (location TBA) to pick up a food package, or visit https://t.co/zERHT9G2KW to submit an anonymous request for pick up or delivery.
I am really excited about this outcome! I also want to underscore that this was the outcome of student organizers putting their careers on the line to push MIT to do this, and not newfound compassion from an institute that ignored / encouraged abuse like this for decades.
dear incoming/younger students,
please don't EVER feel like you're annoying us (senior students), bothering us, distracting us or wasting our time by asking questions, even questions you think are stupid or simple, and HERE'S WHY:
I love designing bottlebrush polymers with flexible backbones (similar to polysulfones) with rigid side chains (like PIMs) in the @SwagerGroup & I'm excited to learn how these architectures and chemistries affect gas separation performance in the @SmithLabMIT. #BlackinOrganic
Dear #BlackinChem, my 12 y.o. self would’ve NEVER believed I chose to be a scientist. She also didn’t realize how much creative potential she possessed being #BlackinOrganic. I had a phenomenal OChem 2 professor @ChemistryatUIC that saw my potential. Let me tell y’all my story.
I’m #BlackinOrganic, I’m a 2nd year PhD candidate, I’m enrolled in @MIT’s Program in Polymers and Soft Matter (PPSM), and my favorite technique is, hands down, preparative gel permeation chromatography (Prep-GPC).
