@TrumanEngLing It’s not that their teachers were jerks, it’s that there is an environment created where students do not feel like they have the room to ask. A student told me they do not feel comfortable telling other professors that they are struggling mentally.

Examining how to teach nonfiction this week has made me realize that this is one thing my high school did the most. Reading nonfiction, especially across disciplines with science was a strong point. Into the Wild, Into Thin Air, Stiff, we were doing it! #TSUEngMAE

@MsAWills @madel_padel Toxic masc is so overlooked, and goes hand in hand with many feminist issues. Similar to using a whiteness lens to discuss racism, looking through toxic masc can help examine sexism and work to deconstruct it. #TSUEngMAE

@madel_padel I also had no idea what theory was! Had also never heard the word juxtaposition before. I think theory is often seen as elitist, but the language of theory can help students participate in social justice conversations and conceptualize their “self.” #TSUEngMAE
