Recently, I started a nature unit (my attempt at Greening English) w/ the freshmen I am student teaching and this book’s celebration and discussion of our world give me hope for my unit and goal.

Be mindful. In the coming weeks, so many will be celebrating on social that they made it through and survived 2020. But many, many did not. Those heartbreaking COVID numbers we hear each and every day are real people -- friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, humans. Be mindful.

Writing tip I learned from @AdamSilvera:
1. Fully charge the laptop or tablet you write on
2. Unplug it.
3. Write until it needs charging again.
4. Take a break while it charges.
5. Repeat.

What are some poems/poets y’all are excited to share with students? I plan to use Billy Collins’ poetry bc his poems are so modern, accessible, & amusing. They break assumptions people often have about poetry when their basis for poetry is Shakespeare or the like #TSUEngMAE

Doing my RLAET over “Strange Fruit” has me thinking about more incredible music that came from Black women at the time. Listening to Nina Simone’s “Ain’t Got No I Got Life” & felt inclined to share. How can we incorporate powerful songs like these into our teaching?#TSUEngMAE

A6 this semester I've been using NCTE journals extensively to research incorporating nature in ELA classrooms helping me achieve 1,2,&3 in A5- I have found comfort and expertise in NCTE's community, knowledge, experiences from others, and knowing I'm not alone #NcteChat
