At the invitation of the French Government, extended through its Minister of Foreign Affairs, we had the honour of attending a high-level meeting France. This strategic gathering brought together government leaders, policy influencers, and key executives of top French corporations with the aim of fostering deeper investment ties and exploring sustainable development partnerships.

Our presence in France underscores Ogun State’s readiness to engage global stakeholders and attract meaningful foreign direct investment into critical sectors of our economy, including infrastructure, agriculture, energy, technology, and manufacturing.

These engagements serve as a build-up to the upcoming Nigeria Business Forum, also scheduled to take place in France, which will bring together Nigerian and French business leaders, government officials, and potential investors. We are confident that our proactive approach to engaging international partners will yield tangible outcomes, especially in unlocking new opportunities for job creation, industrial growth, and socioeconomic advancement for our people.

At the Lisabi Day Celebration in Ake Palace today, I had the honor of joining His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, the Aláké and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, and the people of Egbaland, both at home and in the diaspora, to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and legacy of Lisabi.

We are partnering with @TerraKulture, led by its CEO, Bolanle Austen-Peters, to establish a world-class Film and Entertainment Village in Ogun State. This project will celebrate our legends in music, film, and arts—icons like Fela Anikulapo Kuti and Professor Wole Soyinka—while creating jobs and boosting tourism.

With work set to begin in the next 60 days, we are also investing in the restoration of key heritage sites, including Olumo Rock, the home of Fela’s mother, the residence of Chief MKO Abiola, and the historic house where the Queen of England was once received. These efforts are part of our broader plans ahead of the National Sports Festival in May, where we expect to host over 12,000 visitors.

Additionally, we plan to establish a Hall of Fame to honour the heroes of Ogun State and inspire future generations. Our administration remains committed to promoting culture, tourism, and economic growth across the state.

We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Confederation of General Employers of Morocco (CGEM) to collaborate on key sectors, including power generation and distribution, education, housing, infrastructure, and port development. This partnership will allow us to leverage Morocco’s advancements in technology, manufacturing, and renewable energy to drive growth in Ogun State.

Today, we were privileged to meet H.E. Ambassador Marcelo Garcete, the Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, in our ongoing efforts to enhance the relationship between Ogun State and Brazil.

Our talks focused on increasing cooperation in trade, agriculture, and aviation, building on the groundwork set by recent MoUs and visits by JBS Brazil and Âmbar Energia to our offices in Abeokuta.

In a significant development in 2024, President Bola Tinubu GCFR of Nigeria and Brazil’s FGV signed an MoU to boost agribusiness. Further agreements, such as the $4.3B Green Imperative Project and a $2.5B initiative to establish six industrial plants with JBS Brazil, demonstrate a joint dedication to sustainable progress.

This collaboration is not just about policies, but also about prosperity, innovation, and a future of shared opportunities.

Ogun State, known as the Gateway to Nigeria’s prosperity, is open for business and is committed to creating a conducive environment for both local and foreign businesses to excel.

We are collaborating with Ambar Energia to establish power plants across the state, ensuring a steady electricity supply for residents and over 6,000 industries. As Nigeria’s industrial capital, we are leveraging recent constitutional reforms to generate and distribute power independently, strengthening our energy infrastructure to meet increasing demand.

In fulfillment of our Light Up Ogun State initiative, we welcomed prospective investors to explore opportunities in the state’s energy sector yesterday.

We received Âmbar Energia, a leading energy company from Brazil with an installed capacity across 27 power generation plants utilizing diverse sources, including biogas, hydro, solar, and gas. Their delegation, led by CEO Marcelo Zanatta Estevam, visited some of our generation facilities and initiated discussions on potential partnerships within Ogun State’s energy value chain.

This visit aligns with our commitment to harnessing and maximizing opportunities presented by the Electricity Act signed by President @officialABAT, GCFR. As we drive Ogun State’s energy revolution, we reaffirm that our state is open for business and ready for investment!

As part of our commitment to enhancing power supply in Ogun State, we are working with the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) to take over the 9-megawatt hydro power plant at the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority. This facility, which has remained largely underutilized since its commissioning in 1983, will be revived to contribute meaningfully to our state’s energy needs.

Our plan is to integrate the hydro power plant with the 30-megawatt gas-fired plant in Onijanganjangan, ensuring a balanced energy mix that will boost electricity supply across the state. Under our Ogun State Light Up Project, we are establishing power plants in Abeokuta, Ijebu, Remo, and Yewa, and this hydro facility will further support our vision for improved energy infrastructure.

Beyond power generation, we are also focused on maximizing the agricultural potential of the River Basin. With its vast land and access to water for irrigation, the area is well-suited for farm clusters and year-round food production, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Food Initiative. Additionally, it provides an ideal location for cattle farming and other agribusiness ventures.

We remain committed to ensuring that this long-abandoned project is fully optimized for the benefit of our people. As part of our efforts, we will also investigate the causes of perennial flooding in Isheri to implement lasting solutions. Our administration continues to prioritize initiatives that drive sustainable development in Ogun State.

Yesterday, we visited the Gateway International Agro Cargo Airport to inspect and test some of the newly installed equipment that will enhance security and efficiency at our airport.

We are pleased to announce that all five luggage scanners have been successfully installed, ensuring thorough and efficient screening of baggage. Additionally, the luggage conveyor belt has been fully assembled, further streamlining the handling process for cargo and passenger luggage.

As part of our commitment to safety, we also tested the newly installed walk-through scanner at the terminal building. These upgrades align with our vision to make the Gateway International Agro Cargo Airport a world-class facility that meets global standards in aviation security and logistics.

Our administration remains steadfast in delivering infrastructure that supports economic growth and facilitates seamless business operations. The progress at this airport reaffirms our dedication to transforming Ogun State into an aviation and trade hub.
