movie theater tickets being $18-$20 is insane btw. when i was in high school, they’d be $10 on the weekends and $7.50 for a weekday matinee. this is why kids don’t *do* anything anymore.
they’ve been priced out of everything except being at home.
the other day I watched someone i know ask Siri what percentage 10 was of 70. he couldn't even figure out how to phrase the question -- he had to start over three times and by that point i had already done the (9th grade level) math myself. im on my knees at this point.
I am begging everyone to stop outsourcing your brain to robots. Life is worth living only because we feel and control every part of it. Please don't give away your agency.
aside from the fact that an AI agent actually can't do most of this --why is this use case the advertisement !? "my boyfriend forgot my anniversary so im using a robot to plan it all out and gaslight him into thinking he somehow contributed" is not even a little bit cute.
I can't express how lucky I was to have spent my formative years with an internet that was shaped by >110 IQ nerds instead of third world content farms struggling over 5$ of ad revenue
It was a really beautiful testament to the human spirit that during a global pandemic we all turned against each other, abandoned the environment, and decided to price gouge everyone
“they should teach media literacy in schools” english class “they should teach students how to spot misinformation” it's english class “they should teach kids critical thinking” its called engish class
As a video journalist, it's seriously disappointing to see the WHCA use AI-generated imagery for their intro. GenAI is dishonest and lazy, two of the worst things a journalist can possibly be.
1. Wanting was ENOUGH
2. FOR ME, it was ENOUGH
3. To live for the HOPE OF IT ALL
4. Cancel plans JUST IN CASE you'd call
5. And say "MEET ME BEHIND THE MALL"
6. so much for SUMMER LOVE
7. and saying “US”
8. cause you WEREN’T MINE TO LOSE
The binge model is basically a total loser, I think.
It makes the already very long wait between seasons feel even longer, it eliminates all discussion/hype between episodes, it's bad for creators/actors who can't do interviews, etc. in the interim.
One episode a week was fine!
