Police stopped my car in Abuja. Someone else was driving. They said he is a Yahoo Boy, so he should sort them N1m. He said he’d rather call the owner of the car.
They call me. They said my papers were expired. I said that can’t be. I gave them permission to search the car, that they will find the active papers there. But expired papers? That’s a dead conversation.
Then they asked me for N5m. I told them that’s no problem. Take the car and the man to your office. I will come and sort it with your bosses later.
After that call, they started asking him who I was. He said he too doesn’t know. That he just knows me as my name. He now asked them what happened? They said he should go away, quickly. That wasthe end.
I fear for people who drive in our cities who don’t have the means, network, knowledge or their rights or confidence to navigate these things.
We. Still. Have. A. Long. Way. To. Go. And waka never even start.

When confirmed by the Senate, she would have to be sworn in again as the substantive CJN. The swearing in as Acting CJN is unnecessary. She has already sworn an oath as a Justice of the Supreme Court. That is enough for her to act until she is confirmed and properly sworn in.
Hell-Ruffy is one politician with whom you will never be unsure of where you stand. He never hides his mouth and always comes out with his full chest on any side he chooses. All well, and great.
The problem is that like a certain mammal, he easily goes back to his vomit.
He opposed Buhari bitterly in 2007 when he supported Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in PDP and then turned around to support the man ahead of 2015 to kick Jonathan out. Buhari forgave and forgot.
Hell-Ruffy went to Lagos in 2019 and boasted about how he retired four godfathers in Kaduna, then urged Lagos to also retire their godfathers - good message, Tinubu heard it.
Hell-Ruffy attended Aregbesola’s 60th birthday webinar and said “I want to congratulate my brother, Ogbeni (Aregbesola), on his birthday. You know I’m your man any day. I’m not Asiwaju’s man and you are Asiwaju’s man, but I am your man any day. Asiwaju and I have differences but you and I have no differences.” Tinubu heard it.
He then turned around to campaign heavily for Tinubu in the North and thought to become the most powerful northerner in Tinubu’s administration. But some men neither forgive nor forget and if you bring out a gun against them, be very sure it is loaded, and don’t miss.
I think Hell-Ruffy is in the battle of his political life and he finally has to take a firmly courageous stand for probably the first time in his accidental political career. He was initially loyal to our Atiku then betrayed him for Obasanjo. He endorsed Yar’Adua but the Katsina blueblood saw through him and he ran into self-exile for two years until the very day Yar’Adua died - May 5, 2010.
Few days after on May 11, Hell-Ruffy visited PGEJ in Aso Rock and afterwards told the state house press that GEJ should contest the 2011 election. The speculations were that GEJ would run the 2011 elections with him but on May 19, Jonathan’s announced Gov. Namadi Sambo as Vice-President and Hell-Ruffy ran to join Buhari in CPC for the 2011 election in which his former ally, Nuhu Ribadu, also ran for President on the platform of ACN. (Certain closed door statements he made then about Ribadu may be why the current NSA is working hard against him now.)
Ahead of 2015, Hell-Ruffy rode on the political wave of Buhari in the North and became Governor of Kaduna. For 2023, he backed Rotimi Amaechi but then latched onto Bola Tinubu after the primaries. Now Tinubu is in power and Tinubu knows how to use power.
Tinubu is not Jonathan who will allow him return from exile and watch him maneuver the polity against him. Tinubu is not Yar’Adua who will allow him go into self-exile. Tinubu will fight him through proxies, weaken him from below and then deliver the final blow. This has started already.
Hell-Ruffy will need to take a break from his nomadic political style of “fight today, friends tomorrow” and take a clear stand in the next couple of weeks and months. The political choices before him appear limited but Tinubu is a relentless enemy who only very few politicians can withstand and Hell-Ruffy, by himself, is not one of them.
How many Gen Z wives will support their husbands in marketing a product like this today? The average techbro cannot even get his civilian girlfriend to download his app on apple to rate it a 5 star 😩😩😩

Some folk a trained lawyers who are skilled at recovery. Nigerians should learn to get used to knowing the law and getting the services of lawyers to get justice.
Back in January, someone reported an Abuja company to me for selling a security door that had been tampered with. They sold this thing as new even though it wasn’t. I reached out to the company to refund the buyer their N300k. But they wouldn’t.
Trained the buyer on how to report to the FCCPC - Consumer Protection Agency. They had their money refunded two weeks ago. Took a while but they got some justice. People should learn to report these things.
Nigeria can at times become a self-fulfilling prophecy where because you don’t expect to get justice, you don’t go in pursuit of your rights. But you can’t make shots you don’t take.

Our people should note one thing; we are not Europeans; we are Africans. The way the white man will deal with an issue, is not the same way a black man should deal with same issue
Heard a story of a Naija man who has Australian citizenship relocated to US with his two kids after he lost his wife. He went to start life again in America and after two years, he started dating someone from Akure and made arrangements for her to relocate to come and meet him and they got married.
Fast forward to five years after, the man hosted a gathering with his old friends to celebrate on Christmas Eve, the man decided to smoke after 5 years and the young woman who’s 32 from Arakale in Akure, yelled at him and insulted the 48 year old man in front of his friends and the next thing the man slapped her.
The lady went to report and the man was deported, the man blocked all the cards she gave to her and changed all his money to Naira; as I’m typing this, the woman his back to Oja Oba in Akure where she sells children’s toy. May we never be unfortunate in this life.
The reported tragic loss of my friend, brother and not-far-away neighbour in Lagos, Herbert Wigwe, the co-founder of Access Bank, the CEO of Access Holdings and the founder of Wigwe University, is very devastating. He was in my office earlier this week (where we took the pictures below) and actually left my office to fly out of the country and never came back. I am also shocked to learn his wife, son and other friends were involved in this tragedy.
We were on the verge of announcing something big for the aviation sector, the reason he actually came to the office with his entire team, both from Access and Wigwe University. This is surreal and I am lost for words.
May Almighty God comfort his aged parents and sibling (who were also my neighbours in Lagos for many years as a very young lawyer in Anthony Village), his immediate family members, his staff, friends across Nigeria and dependents.
A wise man once said, "The day you stop reading, you start dying."
This is something I have held on to in my journey through life because we were designed to learn, unlearn, and relearn throughout our lives.
