Kristi Noem’s husband is a cross-dresser.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Cross-dressing is as old as humanity and causes harm to nobody. This is not the story.
The story is that Kristi Noem has built her entire political brand on anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation. She is known for shooting her own dog. She is known for some of the most aggressively anti-trans policy in America. She stands in front of cameras and talks about protecting women and children from the LGBTQIA+ community.
While her husband wears women’s clothing at home.
There is always a reason these people are so angry. Always. The research backs it up and so does every political scandal that has ever ended with a family values congressman in a situation he cannot explain.
We are not here to shame anyone for how they dress or who they are in private. That is their business and it should stay their business. What we are here to do is point out the breathtaking hypocrisy of making other people’s lives smaller and harder and more dangerous because of who they are while living a version of that same truth behind closed doors.
If your husband can wear a dress in your house then a transgender child deserves healthcare.
Those two things are not complicated to hold at the same time.
