Anthropic is hiring a Head of Community, paying $400,000 a year.
For everyone who's been told community is a "nice to have" ...read that again.
The most important company in the world today believes community is a growth lever, not a cost center.
If you've spent your career in community, you know how extraordinarily rare that is.
Community has always been the first budget cut, the soft, fluffy function that begs for headcount and gets told to constantly prove ROI.
Anthropic is doing the opposite. This role owns a top-line business metric and sits at the intersection of product, sales, brand, and comms. It's measured on retention and adoption.
Why I think this is happening:
In a world where everyone has access to the same models, the product isn't the moat anymore; it's the community, the customers, and the people who love the product enough to bring it into their companies and teach their teams how to use it.
You CANNOT buy this type of behavior with ad spend.
The best salesperson at any company just became the head of community.
P.S. If you build community for a living, this is your moment ;)
