Primary care providers (PCPs) used to care for their patients in the hospital - no longer the case and not feasible anymore. However, with the rise of telemedicine over last few years, PCPs can play a greater role as consultants for their hospitalized patients.
The time is now for reimbursable remote primary care consults for patients admitted to hospitals or skilled nursing - better care coordination + safer transitions! @CMSGov@CMSinnovates

I have formally submitted a request to the NEJM to change the title of our manuscript and accompanying video on family meetings to reflect current best practices in shared decision making. #medtwitter https://t.co/5oAQtxDTCR
Everything you wanted to know about brain eating amoebas - AND also an amazing story from @NSpottiswoodeMD of bedside to bench to bedside collaboration leading to a great outcome.

What happens to older adults who are unable or unwilling to flee the war in Ukraine or another conflict? @DrSamirSinha and I discuss in “Too Old to Flee” published in @AGSJournal - https://t.co/KzNLtRbpnC (1/7)
Caveat: Slightly more complex than “older = frail, need help”. Many choose to stay, fight to defend their communities, draw upon experiences of prior conflicts. Older adults may demonstrate lower rates of PTSD compared to younger ones (6/7)
Correction (thank you, @xpostfactoid) - current out of pocket drug cost cap is $3K + 5% of any costs above that (NOT $7K despite what https://t.co/h6vdMcObRy says). This has to do with coverage gap discounts and is confusing. Still lots of savings possible at $2K cap.
Wanted to wrap my mind around Inflation Reduction Act for older adults. Components below in order of what gets me excited most. Please correct if I missed something! (1/n).
Overall, I'm pretty optimistic this will help seniors (and Medicare). Also so many other important pieces in the bill - climate change, taxes, more. Curious how/where the House takes it. (14/n)
@xpostfactoid Thank you for the correction! $~3K not $7K (confusingly from https://t.co/h6vdMcObRy) but that ignores the discounts within the coverage gap. Cap is $3.2k in 2024 and then down to $2.0k in 2025.
