I know everyone's citing Octavia Butler's work as prophetic. But it's important to note that she was able to accurately predict what's happening now by observing all the unmet needs around her and imagining what the natural result of that looked like in 30 years.

We need to teach basic environmental science from a young age. The questions from people on this site asking, “Why can't we just use ocean water?” highlight how many people have no understanding of basic ecology.
