@Chandler_Rome They’ve managed to stick Blubaugh in a role that is hard to succeed in, bad for his development, and increases his injury risk and he’s succeeded anyways. Instead of trading him or keeping him on mop up duty, stretch him out and put him in the rotation. The rotation stinks.
@Chandler_Rome This is part of the reason they grade out more middle of the pack in fWAR and bWAR as a group whereas the ‘13 OF ranked dead last and sub replacement level as a group. Don’t think the comparison you’ve been making there is a good one.
@AstrosFuture@TopherT613 None of these guys are untouchable, but that’s not the point. Trading good prospects for a 40 yo pitcher on a terrible contract at the behest of the owner or paying a 100% premium on a rental starter is a horseshit process. There’s a reason this organization is in a bad spot now
@TopherT613@AstrosFuture How many plate appearances did the Astros give last year to players worse than Gilbert, Wagner, and Loperfido to only miss the playoffs by one game?
@ProspectSpencer I understand this is a bit, but getting Arrighetti, Loperfido, Wagner, and McDermott with such a comically low pool really wasn’t bad. Gordon could have value too if they can eke just a little more velocity out of him
@SanAntonioTim@AbreuSupremacy@YordanisBonds@safety785@TyTalksBaseball I wasn’t accusing you of engagement farming, I was pointing out that there are some pretty easy paths to a following on here. Schwab has the IQ and charisma of a fucking potato and he has nearly 100k followers. I have a job and kids and tweet occasionally in replies.
@SanAntonioTim@AbreuSupremacy@YordanisBonds@safety785@TyTalksBaseball I’m only interested in discussion Tim. I am not trying to gain a following and I don’t give a shit about engagement farming. It’s not hard to beclown yourself like the Schwabs of the world and gain a following.
@SanAntonioTim@AbreuSupremacy@YordanisBonds@safety785@TyTalksBaseball Ok fine. Dezenzo had the exact same amount of AB’s this spring as Pena (plus the WBC time) and Pena made the opening day roster so your point is asinine, not to mention irrelevant. They kept Dezenzo down to stall a roster decision on Harris who had no options remaining.
@SanAntonioTim@AbreuSupremacy@YordanisBonds@safety785@TyTalksBaseball lol your heart isn’t even in these pedantic retorts any more Tim. Keep carrying water. Things are going great. Can’t wait to watch Lance pitch tomorrow after sitting through this Imai shitfest tonight. Let’s get greedy about winning. Glad we got the nerds out of here
@AbreuSupremacy@SanAntonioTim@YordanisBonds@safety785@TyTalksBaseball He has been comically inept at building a bench that can help give platoon/matchup advantages for their developmental guys/fringy major leaguers.Harris starting 3 games in Fenway against LHP with Dezenzo in AAA was hysterical. We are the anti-Rays.
@AbreuSupremacy@SanAntonioTim@YordanisBonds@safety785@TyTalksBaseball Dana boxes himself in by filling out the ML roster with replacement/sub replacement level guys who are out of options. They are consistently playing with a shortened roster putting pitchers in situations where they’re more likely to get hurt for the past 3-4 seasons.
@JeremyBranham I think Dezenzo is the best hitter of all their young players but they moved him out of the IF prematurely and he can’t stay healthy. He doesn’t really have a position now and I think they have done a poor job with his development. He’ll wind up having success in a better org
@ProspectSpencer@GOrwell2020 Wade didn’t exactly bother to do his due diligence on the Bourn trade. Can’t have a GM who might mail it in at the trade deadline.
@AdamSpolane They had consistently gotten top 5-10 returns with bottom 5 pools. There is no way to look at the totality of their drafts and conclude that they had drafted poorly prior to Dana. Jeremy Peña and Hunter Brown are above average returns by themselves if you look at standard drafts
