@betchambers_ @StuAllard What they really want is money. Ransomware shuts down the school, so the school may have to pay the attackers to get back up and running. Schools are high-profile, while being short on security/IT budget and manpower, so they make good targets. Data is usually leverage for them

Now this is interesting.

They were just affiliates in a Ransomware as a Service (RaaS) gig, but at least they got busted. Sadly, decryption is now impossible for recent victims.

Ergregor replaced Maze for a lot of RaaS actors when Maze shut down.
