Let's talk numbers.
Uganda has ~2,000 medical interns.
A C-section costs UGX 2,000,000 at a private facility.
If each intern performs just 1 C-section per month:
2,000 × 2,000,000 = UGX 4 billion/month
Over 12 months = UGX 48 billion/year in healthcare value delivered, free to patients.
The government pays each intern UGX 1,000,000/month.
Total cost: 2,000 × 1,000,000 × 12 = UGX 24 billion/year
Value generated: UGX 48 billion. Cost: UGX 24 billion.
That is a 100% ROI, on C-sections alone.
For every shilling spent on an intern, the public gets two shillings back in healthcare value.
And the average intern performs 50+ procedures or equivalents during their internship. The actual return is not 2x. It is not calculable.
The "no money" argument assumes interns consume resources.
The data says they generate them.
This is not a wage. It is an investment with a guaranteed return.
Paid in lives.
There are moments when life tests a person's strength beyond what most of us can imagine.
My friend, @rwamu_ had just completed his law degree when he suffered a stroke. Many feared the worst. Some thought his dreams had come to an end. But through pain, uncertainty, and years of recovery, he has remained remarkably strong, determined, and hopeful.
Today, there is a smile on his face again. There is progress. There is hope.
When the call came , all of us that knew this fine legal brain, kindred spirit set in.
I want to sincerely thank the friends let by @SilverKayondo , classmates, and well-wishers who have stood by him. Because of your generosity, land for a wheelchair-accessible home wss purchased in Manyangwa, Gayaza, and the title successfully transferred.
Now comes the next step: building the home.
For Mwene, this is more than a house. It is dignity. It is accessibility. It is independence. It is a place from which he can continue his recovery journey in safety and comfort.
I am therefore appealing to all friends, colleagues, members of the legal fraternity, and every person of goodwill to contribute whatever they can. No contribution is too small. Together, we can help a young man who has fought so courageously rebuild his life. @Atukundaisaac1

Mwene's story is a reminder that while a stroke may change a life, it does not have to destroy a dream.
@mkainerugaba I rose from obscurity to where am because of my abilities not favours from anybody. Am self made. Being a Minister is not necessarily the best thing in life. My horizon is far beyond that. Let's serve Uganda. Cheers.
@ErnestAkor@abaasadaniel What do you mean locally hahah I scored 6 tries in the inaugural machokos 7s 2013 2 shy of the top scorer. In a pool that had fijians haha
Kamuli road can change your car stereo without your consent banaye!

@PeshK319 So was meant to benefit from this deal .Did the above mentioned persons do their due diligence in acquiring that land ?Did they have conflict of interest ?
UGLY, ABANDONED & DANGEROUS.
The Kampala Northern Bypass road looks abandoned and is getting more dangerous by the day. Safety furniture that was damaged hasn’t been restored. Taxis have created stages on the fast-moving road. Boda-Bodas are riding in opposite directions. The safety standards are GONE.
Who is in charge of safety on our roads?
Why replace guard rails with concrete barriers? The damaged guard rails saved a life. The concrete barriers aren’t designed to safely protect lives in case a car rams into one.
Why allow taxis to stop to load and offload passengers in the middle of the road? This is dangerous for the passengers crossing the road, and the parked and moving vehicles. It’s a death trap.
Why are we sitting back to watch people die?
