Andrew Ssekirevu: The President promised free sanitary pads in 2016. Today, condoms are everywhere, but pads remain inaccessible. Girls deserve dignity, not empty promises. #MenstrualHealth
At Gufasha Girls Foundation, our work prioritizes male engagements too because we’re not just shaping individuals, we’re shaping the future.
We believe when we involve boys and men in dialogues and programs, we are raising a generation of allies, not bystanders.
The Gufasha Girls Leadership Academy is here, and it is happening!
As a Team Leader, this program is deeply personal. I grew up as one of the shyest girls in the classroom and among my peers, without confidence, without mentorship, and often believed my voice and opinions were too small to matter.
Everything changed at the age of 13, when my best friend faced an unimaginable injustice, one that changed both our lives forever, one that stole her innocence, dreams and life, and on personally witnessing that countless girls were being forced into marriage at a very young age, because they lacked a voice and agency, because they were not equipped to challenge harmful norms that limited them from being girls, from dreaming and achieving their fullest potential, since then, I carried a vision in my heart, a dream of creating a safe, empowering space where girls are mentored, inspired and empowered to believe in themselves early enough to rewrite their futures and stand up for change. I promised myself that whatever I learn on my leadership journey, I will carry it forward and teach the girls.
At @Gufasha_Found , we’ve spent years nurturing leadership in girls. But this year, that vision takes on a new name and a bold new form “The Gufasha Girls Leadership Academy”.
This Academy is more than a program, it is a movement. A space where young girls are Seen and heard, Mentored and supported, Equipped with comprehensive life-skills including leadership, confidence and public speaking tools, and where girls build real-community impact projects inspired to challenge the norms that hold them back or influence gender inequalities.
Through this program, we are raising a generation of changemakers. Girls who will not wait for permission to lead. Girls who don’t just believe they belong at the tables, but them that are confident in creating the tables.
Each year, we will be welcoming a cohort of 40 fellows from the schools and communities we serve in Kayunga District , I am confident that we’re nurturing the future Presidents, Ministers, Policy Makers, Social Innovators, Activists who are to address the World’s biggest challenges.
This is purpose. And it’s only the beginning.
If you believe in the power of girls’ leadership to transform communities and change the world, I invite you to walk this journey with us, support us; https://t.co/GJkDEy5jdx

Last week, I participated in the #GirlsFirst Summit as a Girl Expert during the Girl Hour Session. I shared about SRHR and what safety means to me as a girl.
Thank you @shesthefirst for giving me a platform to amplify my voice.
@Gufasha_Found
I am a product of education. And I am not ashamed to say that I am the first graduate in my family and the first in my community as a whole!
This statement isn't just a reflection of my journey, it's a truth I’ve lived. Education opened doors that once seemed permanently shut to a rural girl like me. It protected me from child marriage, gave me the confidence to speak up, the skills to stand out and the courage to lead.
And i know that there’s no other powerful tool we can ever give girls than education!!
But let me be clear, the kind of education I’m talking about here goes far beyond just having girls in classrooms. It’s about holistically equipping them with tools that truly empower, guide and inspire them through Academic mentorships, Leadership training and Programs that build confidence and resilience to enable girls to speak up, dream bigger and pursue goals that once felt out of reach.
This is the education that changes lives. This is the education every girl deserves.
This is what we do as @Gufasha_Found , we do not just aim for attendance, we aim for transformation.
When we invest in educating girls, we’re not just supporting individuals, we're uplifting communities and generations. And we must continue to break barriers surrounding girls’ education.
To anyone reading this, i invite you to join our Sponsorship program to support a girl’s education under Gufasha Girls Foundation: https://t.co/OH7DyhbGMM.
Thank you!
