@conservmillen That’s not what that pad is for. They use disposable chuck pads for that. The one you see is put there so that it’s easier to shift the patient when they are having trouble shifting themselves. Also, new parents do a lot of silly pictures.
@clhubes@CarissasNewLife My oldest would make up words when she didn’t know the word for something. She once fell and hurt her hip and came to me complaining that her “butt-wrist” hurt. It’s still one of my favorites.
@nickitruesdell1 That is still a privilege to be able to make that choice. To have so much that you can choose to live on less is a pretty fortunate place to be. I homeschooled for a long time so this isn’t said with malice, but choosing fewer meals out isn’t the talk of poor people.
@sheilagregoire This is something I’ve been struggling with. I work for but am not a member of a church that just left the UMC because of LGBTQ issues. I keep my job because I am teaching kids to love Jesus and running a ministry to feed and clothe babies. But I still wonder if I’m doing right.
@_nomadic_soul I mean in the public discourse. We were accused of being the lazy kids and now genZ makes fun of our side parts. I don’t this any of this is based in much reality.
@ask_aubry Even in classic literature there are lots of descriptions of fierce women. Read Dickens’ description of the women storming the Bastille. They were far from the ‘weaker vessel.”
@__FoxyCoxy@ZachWLambert That could be but I remember being dead set on fixing up my bestie when I was a newly wed. I was happier than I’d ever been and wanted her to be the same. It came from a good place but I’m sure I was insufferable.
@CarissasNewLife Makes me a little crazy when people mix up knitting with crochet but I’ve gotten used to it. For the uninitiated, chrochet uses 1 hook. Knitting requires 2 or more needles.
@PastorTrey05 You got this! I’m going to be huddled in a corner this time next week as I send 2 kids to high school, 1 to middle and 1 to elementary for the first time.
@RevDaniel I am also uncomfortable with many of the same things but I go anyway to do #freemomhugs The LGBTQ people in my life don’t go. I don’t bring my kids anymore because it’s getting less family friendly. It’s an optional event.
@EWErickson Didn’t the Baptists boycott Disney for allowing a pride parade in the 90’s? I have a vague memory of having to choose movies for our youth group lock in very carefully. That’s a pretty good sized backlash.
I love the people here and I know them to be good and kind but I can’t understand how that kindness stops when we come to the issue of LGBTQ people in the church.
Working at a church is tough. It’s not like a regular job where you assume the boss is an AH but you can work for them as long as they behave themselves. If you work in ministry, you have to be able to align your own faith with the boss at least in the important things.
With #umcdisaffiliation coming ever closer, I find it difficult to continue working in a space my daughter won’t attend with me. I find it difficult to try to grow a ministry and bring people in when I’m not sure I can recommend the church honestly.
