@Nelba_MG And also, how little our general society knows about & handles deep, true grief. I am daily shocked by my own level of grief & pain, and i considered myself pretty sensitive & aware. And no one in my life seems to quite know what to do with me...
@Nelba_MG These are all so good...I have little to add but 1 challenge that’s particularly acute right now is reconciling within myself the permanence, the finality of the loss. My husband died 2 months ago and my body, my pschye...it’s like parts of me are still looking & waiting for him
@shannanwrites There are exceptions, for sure. But many Christians seem/ed to think that their prayers alone will solve all our problems and pay our bills 🤷🏽♀️
@shannanwrites Not the same but when my husband was diagnosed with (& then died from) stage 4 cancer, it was un.real. how much more generous our atheist, non-religious, or vaguely spiritualish neighbors, friends, acquaintances & strangers were & have been, than the Christians (esp Evangelical)
@danieljonce YES. So accurate. Spare me the pushy, bright-siding, idealization of my great loss. My husband died 6 weeks ago today and the silence, the void...reality’s cold indifference—that he is not coming back—is precisely how it feels.
@chrisbvail @cindy_w_brandt You are right on. That was not the case for my husband, but was crazy to see, over the last year of his cancer struggle, how many people who absolutely should be screened/get a colonoscopy do NOT. And feel awkward as soon as they hear the "colon" in cancer. Body shame is broad..
@sethhaines Additionally, working to reduce abortion rates has less to do with criminalization of the act and more to do with working to improve the conditions into which women are birthing children .
@sethhaines Please try to understand that being pro-choice does not equate to being pro-abortion. Being pro-choice can simply mean that one trusts women to make their own best choices about their bodies and pregnancies.
Meanwhile in Bethesda MD, a wealthy enclave outside DC...a man assaults a child for putting up anti-racist signs. The park police are now looking for him.
@aliawilsonlee@yougotsrvd@JenHatmaker@anjelahjohnson@onbeing who sobbed after a poetry reading, seeing so many white people clapping for her son. Vuong didn't understand, til he saw her kneeling in front of one white person after the other the next day at the nail salon, "below their eye level for so many years." https://t.co/4I6I8C1dIZ
