Another lab very kindly lent me older HOBOs that require a COM port with the COM to USB adaptor. "No devices connected". HOBOware "could not open serial port". I'm going to call Onset tech support (again) on Monday, but I don't think it's going to help. Any suggestions? (3/3)
Lab has a number of U23 temp/RH loggers, but neither the base station I just got, nor another lab's base station, will connect any of the U23s to a computer (tried multiple computers). "No devices connected" no matter what I do. Weirdly, it will connect for Pendant loggers. (2/3)
Hey all, I know twitter is dying and I don't have much of a following, but does anyone have experience troubleshooting HOBO data loggers? My hunch is it's a software issue, but I'm having repeated problems across loggers/connections (1/?)
I made a joke to a friend that grading feels like Who's Line is it Anyway - "everything's made up and the points don't matter".
This is my 1st time REALLY teaching (as an instructor not a teaching assistant). Does it always feel this way? Does the feeling get better or worse?
A wild thing about being human is some days I wake up with SUCH capacity to answer email and do omg SO much work
And some days I wake up a tired lil bug w/ a brain full of beans and take 2 naps
anyway 40 hr+ work weeks were made for people who don't menstruate and maybe robots
@RebeccaSolnit Thank you for asking! 1) climate change affects not just year long averages, but seasonal variability (so we can have more flood AND more drought) 2) scientists WANT to work with local communities & we're learning how to do it better 3) plants are also going extinct
I often fear the outcome of speaking out but I can’t be quiet about this. I’m horrified. Flyers hanging up in my department’s hallways. Not sure what kind of sick sense of humor someone feels in degrading women in STEM (1/2) @UGA_CollegeofAg@universityofga@UGAGradSchool
Please join us next week for a panel discussion on careers in science communication and science policy! And a huge thank you to our phenomenal guests, Dr. Mallory Smith, Gwendolyn Bogard, and Dr. Andrea Stathopoulos!
@melanieamerritt It might be from the last reference in the paragraph-- Rosser 1990. Looks like it's referencing a book "Female-friendly Science: Applying Women's Studies Methods and Theories to Attract Students"... which like... not a promising title
Mary Oliver poems are so amazing because you’ll be like “I feel bereft and hopeless and so alone” and she’ll be like “ok, but have you ever really thought about moss?” And it turns out you haven’t.
