I’m not saying India needs a revolution like Nepal. Nepal’s Gen Z protest was not perfect. We made a lot of mistakes. A LOT. But one thing we did achieve after the protest was to convince our parents and grandparents to believe in change and vote for a better future after years of incompetence, corruption, and no accountability.

Time will tell whether we made the right decision.

However, from what I’ve seen, these people are not asking for a change in government. They are asking for an incompetent minister to resign. Why is that so hard??

Now, Indian Gen Z’s, it’s your turn to start the conversation at home and encourage your families to at least demand accountability from your local MPs, politicians, and those in power.

But how can they seek accountability from the government other than protest ? I would not want their protest to turn like Nepal’s DAY 2. Also look at Modi ji tweeting birthday wishes and Mr pradhan senseless tweets while this situation is unfolding. Doesn’t that come across as completely out of touch.

Ugh, these uncs just watch, stay quiet, and let things be and leave us with all the mess. But when we gather the courage to question the government and hold them accountable, suddenly they have a problem with that too. Instead of offering constructive criticism or having a meaningful discussion, they often resort to insults and conspiracy theories. Can the government never just be lacking in performance or citizens be frustrated with their incompetence, why does it always have to be the CIA??

Did I criticize India? I just said people should hold their leaders accountable. That should apply everywhere. You are free to talk about Nepal, Pakistan, the US or any other country you like and I can talk about India too. And it’s not like my opinion will change anything. You are the ones in power to do so.

@roxk_the4053 Okay, let’s leave Nepal aside for once. India can simply remove the minister and see if that resolves the issue. The Indian government themselves are responsible for allowing the situation to escalate this far.

@roxk_the4053 Well India is a big country. A large fraction of the population can be disappointed with the government without it being a CIA operation. Religion, caste and Kashmir etc are everyday features of almost everything in India and from all sides. No surprises there.

You can see BJP politicians and media using the Nepal protests to delegitimize protests in India. Even CJP dismissed the Nepal protests. I am not a politician and I can speak my mind. If India had been the first to remove a corrupt and incompetent government, we would have taken inspiration from them too. Didn’t we also take inspiration from Indonesia? There is nothing wrong with learning from each other and using those examples to hold our own governments accountable.

I see some Nepalis saying “Why should we speak up?” If you don’t want to, that’s your choice. But there’s nothing wrong with speaking out when we sense something is wrong, especially when they are our neighbours.

I, along with many others, have called out issues before like drunk driving, the objectification of Nepali women, and other things from Indian tourist that I strongly hate. Maybe I crossed the lines at times also out of anger and frustration. On a government level, we will end up despising them whether it’s BJP, Congress, or any other party, because they will never do anything to our benefits. Regardless it doesn’t change the fact that they remain our close neighbours. We can call out what is wrong while still standing with ordinary people when they are going through a crisis.

And honestly, don’t you think the Nepal protests have also acted as a catalyst for some of these conversations right now in India and even around the world ??

To all the Nepalis staying silent about the protests in India don’t forget that Indian politics has always affected Nepal, directly. Whatever your views on today’s protests, remember the 2072 blockade and how deeply it impacted ordinary Nepali. politics doesn’t stop at the border

@MaChucchi I have my fair share of problems with this government too. But do I expect them to fix years of deep rooted issues within a few months? No. Continue to question and voice your dissatisfaction. If they fail to deliver, we will vote this government out too.

Negativity aside, I want to attend a Nepali wedding so bad😭 I honestly have no idea what actually happens, all the rituals and ceremonies. I have only ever seen them through YouTube videos.

The last time I attended a wedding, I was may be 9 or 10. I feel like I’ve missed out on so much of our culture and traditions. Don’t want to wait till my own wedding to experience all this 😅. Someone please invite me.

I genuinely feel bad. There’s so much potential. The world’s fourth largest economy could do so much better with good leadership. They don’t seem to care at all. Idk how all politicians become so egoistic and start feeling untouchable after coming to power. He could simply resign to deescalate the situation but never mind. You guys really deserve better.
