"Individual liberty matters," says the man who voted to make sure women don't get a choice over their own body. It's #YourBodyYourChoice only when it suits you, eh?
I love the Aussies. Their history of rugged independence is legendary; I’ve always said Australia is the Texas of the Pacific.
The Covid tyranny of their current government is disgraceful & sad.
Individual liberty matters.
I stand with the people of #Australia
@nowthisnews I didn't know it was the cops' job to unquestioningly relate the perpetrator's justification for his murder spree that deliberately targeted Asian women.
Tell us about the women he murdered, not his excuses for murdering them.
Let me be very clear: the scenes of chaos at the Capitol do not represent who we are. What we are seeing is a small number of extremists dedicated to lawlessness. This is not dissent, it's disorder. It borders on sedition, and it must end. Now.
The man directly responsible for the chaos of today is Donald Trump, who has made it clear that he will do anything to remain in power – including insurrection and inciting violence. Trump will go down in history as the worst and most dangerous president in history.
Democracy - the right of people to exercise a vote, have their voice heard and then have that decision upheld peacefully should never be undone by a mob. Our thoughts are with everyone who is as devastated as we are by the events of today. I have no doubt democracy will prevail.
Healthcare should be universal. You know what's missing from Medicare in Australia? Dental & Mental health. Your teeth and brain are part of your body. Let's fix that.
The words 'I Can't Breathe" are spelled out by 433 candles by First Nation campaigners in Brisbane's Musgrave Park. The candles symbolise the 432 indigenous Australians who have died in custody since the 1991 Deaths in Custody report and one for George Floyd, killed in the US.
@thehuli@taylorswift13 Where ‘Darkness’ is analysed against its political message, ‘Only the Young’ became less about the message of the lyrics but focused on how the “uncomplicated” and “wholesome” Taylor is “lashing out”. Nice try hiding the double standards though. (2/2)
@thehuli's article on @taylorswift13's 'Only the Young' is an example of the toxic idea that "women should stay in their place'. Taylor's whole career is based on telling her story, and the effects of politics on herself and society are part of her story. https://t.co/bzoVbAj3uK
@thehuli@taylorswift13 Unfortunately for you, women are starting to unlearn apologising for things that don’t need apologies. Your Eminem article is a pitiable justification when people actually read the contents and see the underlying message. (1/2)
@taylorswift13 “We don’t want to be condemned for being multi-faceted.” @taylorswift13 sums it up well. We’re not just “Good Girls”. We need to ingrain in society that women have ideas and voices, we have hearts and souls. And our achievements are ours.
I just finished #MissAmericana and I regret sitting on it for days. @taylorswift13 thank you for pouring out your heart and soul to share your story (and the story of many young women out there).
Commentary thread coming up:
@taylorswift13#MissAmericana speaks out against this bubble women are forced to conform to or else face the scorn of society. For years, Taylor accepted with a smile as she was branded to be “The Good Girl” & stepping out of the bubble or making a mistake meant society turning its back on her.
