@lourdesgnavarro Auditory processing difficulties aren’t a result of hearing loss, nor are they an issue of “not understanding.” It’s a complex issue, but the tweet-length explanation is that the brain needs extra support to process what it’s hearing. Same reason lots of us use captioning!

@choo_ek As an SLP, I have to say this is a bit of a false equivalency. The lack of visual input is completely separate from the issue of how masks distort the acoustic properties of human speech. It’s still not a good reason to not mask, but this is reductive and inaccurate.
