@poppyred2002 I wish your son good luck with his studies. I do understand, my sister is vegan too. The sturgeon is the number on most endangered species on the planet, by far.
Yet receives very little help considering the welcomed help offered to various other species gaining more exposure.

[KC® Caviar Ltd @kccaviar]

@poppyred2002 This the most humane and ethical way with today technology. The way they are normally slaughtered is just barbaric, hence why you dont see the full footage of that type of harvest. You see sturgeon alive, then next its laying on a table ready to be havested. In Hope this helps.

[KC® Caviar Ltd @kccaviar]

@poppyred2002 People forget, conventional farms that breed sturgeon for caviar farms or to repopulate waterways with fry, do it the same way as on the video. Its the only way. If she didn't want her eggs to be "taken" she has the option to reabsorb them too. Again this can also be fatal.

[KC® Caviar Ltd @kccaviar]

@poppyred2002 .. Eggs have to come out, a bad infection could be fatal. She is spawning. So the eggs become adhesive, (stick to the river bed) Tweezers are sometimes used once the ovulation fluid the eggs float in has drained out to keep the vent clear from blocking.

[KC® Caviar Ltd @kccaviar]

@poppyred2002 Wriggle and free her self she can do that with ease. The towel makes sure she can breath for apx 10mins. Prossess is less than 5mins. The massaging, is best described as squeezing a tube of toothpaste, just enough so the eggs come out.
Due to risk of internal infection, eggs...

[KC® Caviar Ltd @kccaviar]

@poppyred2002 Yes ok. A fish out of water flaps about, its in dire need of water, or oxygen from the water to be precise.
Two things are happening on the video, shes on her back out of water, we a human hand pressing along her body. She is 10kg of solid muscle, if she wanted to wriggle and..

[KC® Caviar Ltd @kccaviar]

@poppyred2002 Fortunately, we have amazing contacts such as the david attenborough institute willing to help when the time comes. Rest assured these sturgeon will not be rehomed in fishing lakes or where poachers are known to be active. But as close to thier real home as possible.

[KC® Caviar Ltd @kccaviar]

@poppyred2002 Secondly, they are obviously very sort after lets say. Just placing in any river/lake would be very bad for the sturgeon, poachers would be a real problem. So the habitat has to be protected. This again narrows options for the new home.
