The INSPIRE 22 Team have made it to the South Pole!! 🇦🇶
We are so incredibly proud of their achievement, smashing their expected time in just 47 days 💪🏼
Team photo pending! Stay tuned for more details of their experience and the fascinating research that has come out of it!
The Inspire 22 team broke a few records:
- Officially the largest expedition to ski to the South Pole
- Team member Nadja is the first Danish woman to ski to the South Pole
- Devon (the guide) set a world record for guiding 6 expeditions to the South Pole
Lots to celebrate!
Day 2 of our conference yesterday was great fun. We had workshops on breathing, airways, circulation and disability & exposure. The afternoon involved mass casualty moulages, with an earthquake and a cave collapse scenario 💥
Since we have been away from Twitter for a while, we want to catch up you to speed! We are over halfway through this year’s training course, an internationally accredited training programme. We had amazing applications, and ultimately chose 26 KCL and intercalating students.
Last year’s course inevitably went exclusively online due to covid, so this year we were thrilled to be back in person running practical workshops as part of our training course.
We have a hybrid course this year, with in person lectures, practical workshops & virtual talks from international speakers. We are lucky to have been joined by @shawnapandya , @benabo , @Go_Inspire_22 ‘a Major Natalie Taylor, Dr Lizzie Thorne, Dr Mike Conroy & our KCL lecturers
Grateful for a moving and fascinating talk by friend to @KCLWMS@benabo about urban search and rescue nd his work with the tragic surfside collapse. Now onto KCLWMS co-founder Dr Andrew Feneley discussing his experience working at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 🏍
This morning we were lucky enough to have some excellent talks by @Space_Doctor and Dr Nick Hassan, discussing our theme of ‘Bringing the Wild into Medicine’ 🏔
Life at the Limits Conference timetable! Full day and workshop tickets are all sold out, single lecture tickets are still available on KCLSU. See you there!
