Busy times. We've got a new Chairperson too - a frontline kinship carer keen to help us move forward to deliver projects to our own peer group caring fulltime for Midlothian kin-kids.
141,000 children across England and Wales are being raised in #KinshipCare by grandparents, aunts, uncles, other relatives and family friends. ✨
Let's celebrate all #KinshipCarers raising children in stable and loving homes this #MothersDay. 💛

We want to reiterate for the final time . We are not getting at Foster carers or adopters we are getting at the system ! Please stop misconstruing this . These are OUR Families and their child’s rights as @ThePromiseScot states to be with their siblings and their family !
Yes, too many people living off organisations that receive funding purporting to be working to eradicate childhood poverty; it's not going to happen. Most of the funding just goes to pay salaries/overheads it doesn't even trickle down to the frontline of childhood poverty.
Grim statistics for Scots children. EVERY CHILD needs a home . Homelessness and poverty walk hand in hand . This often results in children’s removals from families . The “expensive talking shops “ need to close and money wasted diverted to where it works on the ground @scotgov
Busy life as a kin-carer of a teenager off college & working at the Fringe. Me - well I'm working too in the charity's office trying to raise sufficient funds for my peers to keep receiving our charity's monthly disbursements. Aye right - Getting it right for every child!
The rise in benefits tax/ cred and child benefit has been deducted from kinship payment for those already struggling on benefits ! Giving up paid work to care for 4 siblings that would cost the care system £1million a year !! National disgrace @BBCScotlandNews@NotSeparation
Kinship carers work so hard to give their kinship children a chance to be accepted and workplace success. Why therefore are we, the kinship carers, exploited by so many organisations that use our status to financially feather their own nests?
A week of planning for KCM-SCIO'S Summer Fete. Hope we get a dry day tomorrow to enjoy the stalls, games and barbecue. Come along and support Midlothian kinship carers. Bring your friends to share the day with us. 📷
