And so, the World Cup’s stay in Kansas City has come to an end. And it ended the same way it began 25 days ago, with an Argentinian celebration.
The greatest sporting event in the world outside of the Olympics came to our city and we did more than just hold our own, we dominated. We didn’t just host the party — provide the venue, the refreshments, the music — we did a stage dive right into the middle of it. And our guests took note. Teams, fans, media, everyone was over the moon about Paris of the Plains.
This was a transformational moment in the history of this place we call home. So many people fall in love over one summer with someone they never met before. I feel like we’re going to look back at this as the summer when the world fell in love with Kansas City.
@tsnmike Yeah I can agree with that. We differ a bit on the level of criticism he deserves for not making that sacrifice but enjoyed the discussion. HNY!
@tsnmike Coaches are going to change jobs. Esp as the PO expands I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect a PO coach to never take a better job. Something systemic needs to change to avoid this kind of drama. We’ve kept this goofy calendar to preserve bowl traditions? Seems an easy fix.
@tsnmike I’ve seen numerous coaches suggest calendar changes. The tournament should end in early January with signing day and portal opening after so coaches don’t feel obligated to choose between finishing their old job and starting their new one. No other sport forces this choice.
@tsnmike Timing sucks but that’s not his fault. I just don’t buy an argument that a guy can’t change jobs just bc his team made the tournament. System is forcing this decision to happen before the tournament begins. Dumb.
@tsnmike No dog in the fight. No fan of Lane. But he’s been unfairly dragged over this. He has built a perennial playoff contender. He’s never allowed to leave if they’re in? How about when PO is 16 or 24 teams? G5 coaches exempt? He did what he thought was best for him and his fam.
Planes break. Unavoidable delays happen. But basic operational competency to avoid wasting at least an hour of your customers time isn’t too much to ask.
@SouthwestAir flight 1903 from MCI to MSY today has been a mess all afternoon. And now when finally loaded up ready to go we have to deplane because YOU FORGOT TO DO A SECURITY SWEEP?!? Who’s running this place? 🤡 Embarrassing.
I’ve been mixing several baseball road show series this spring out at The K. All have been enjoyable but the Detroit crew is particularly awesome. This is hilarious.
The NSF’s proposed FY26 budget request includes a staggering 50% reduction in funding. It’s alarming that leaders can’t- or won’t -grasp the long-term damage this will do to our research, innovation, and the future of America’s scientific workforce.
Wow I am so thrilled to be part of a fantastic game like @AlabamaMBB vs @AuburnMBB - the emotion - intensity - competitiveness was UNBELIEVABLE! 2 weeks in a row Bama involved in a buzzer beater. Today it goes their way as their PTPER STAR wins game at buzzer in ot 93-91!
@OShowKCJared@jazayerli But his point is why would airlines schedule crews so tightly so that a 20 minute delay causes a cancellation? They’re either poor at planning or lying.
