The galactic sheet is incoming, the last star before us just showed signs of it. If I recall it was about a decade ago before the last one in line from the galactic center micronova'ed as well. We have had since then 3 interstellar objects. The last I'm sure came from the direction of the galactic center. Not sure of the others but still..

Here is my idea, what if the dust incoming is more like a beat up bag of cereal. Where alot of dust is at the bottom, but up top you might have some giant flakes. What if the increase in sizable asteroids is the flakes coming in?
