Let’s talk about feedback. A controversial opinion.
You probably have heard phrase - “feedback is a gift” multiple times. I think it’s directionally true, bit there is a nuance. In my experience feedback is not always useful. And could be actually be the opposite.
Sometimes you can get feedback that would end up wasting your time if you end up addressing it. For example — when I was just starting full time engineering I got feedback that it would really help me grow if I have improved my speed of coding. I wasted a lot of time going against my intuition to focus on quality instead and started practicing techniques for more rapid coding. I ended up developing some not very useful skills for that stage of my career. The advice came from an engineer who was also not very experienced and didn’t have a solid track record. But I was young and impressionable and they sounded very confident.
My philosophy on that is when difficult feedback comes my way — to always understand who is it coming from. Is that a person that I respect and trust?
- do I trust them have my best interest in mind (hard to know)?
- do I trust their skill and track record (easy to know)
Also how the feedback is given tells a lot. Was it more about opportunities for growth or was it in a form of a more prescriptive advice? Did it come with examples from experience and justifications or was it more of a closed-ended set of statements?
After you I get the feedback I try to have a call or async session where I can ask them many questions trying to dissect what they have in mind and how I can grow.
And regardless of the above - be always appreciative. While feedback might not always be useful, the time and effort somebody spent giving it is indeed a gift 🎁

GM Degenz!
Did you know our Mandrill has a 77% ROI & 1863 APY?
They are the largest species of monkey in the world. Adult males can weigh up to 35 kg. Mandrills are highly social animals and live in large groups known as troops. Just like our Degenz Community but smaller.
A glorious day to be an Etherean (& Optimist).
Serious public corps would be hesitant to launch their own L1 (imo) and worry about bootstrapping a decentralized validator set (& more).
The path is to pay Ethereum for security, use open-source Rollup components, empower users 👏
