Just so people understand: It is Trump’s Iran war that is driving the debt and interest rate crisis. Asian economies are tanking because they are starved of oil, that, in turn, is punishing their currencies, and Japan in particular is selling our bonds to try to prop their currency up.

As they sell, that exacerbates the crisis. If Trump truly tries to target Iran economically next week further, it’ll be pouring the last gasoline we have right on the fire.

We’re watching this man break the global financial system for nothing. The deal Iran offered in February was better than what he can or will get now. And we’re all going down with him.

Pretty fascinating response by South Korea's President to Trump's announcement that he would scale down joint military exercises.

He says that South Korea is building "sufficient capability to assume responsibility for the defense of the Korean Peninsula ourselves" and that "scaling back combined exercises and field training" is the right call to "create the conditions for dialogue toward establishing a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula."

In other words, in careful diplomatic language, he is substantively very close to saying the US military presence is part of the problem rather than the solution. And that less of it - and ultimately none of it, with South Korea assuming full responsibility for its defense itself - goes in the right direction.

Quite devastating to the "indispensable nation" thesis: are you so "indispensable" if, when you start to pull back, those you purport to "defend" are like "good, that helps, we'll take it from here"?
