Really tough to see KC return to the regressive civic mistakes we made in the 90s. Kemper Arena was fine until you lost the Big 12 tournament and got passed over by the NHL and NBA a dozen times. It took nearly a decade to get an arena measure back on the ballot after that happened. It took another decade for the West Bottoms to recover.

The Royals and Chiefs never entertained leaving KC because the 3/8 cent tax was a great public-private partnership. Now that tax is gone and both teams are well within their rights to explore their options.

Do not be so sure that they want to come back to the table after this.
