@KabbaniGSE@RutgersAltRoute Thank you, Mr. Kabbani, for guiding me through all 3 phases! I’ve gained so much insight from our classes and assignments. We had a great bunch! You’re awesome!
@RutgersAltRoute A5: In Kindergarten, feedback can sound like “you tried a new way!” “You didn’t give up!” “You’re getting better!” “That was tricky but you kept going!” And make sure to tell them you’re proud! It helps them feel confident and value their effort. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A4: a challenge for me has been assessing 5-6 year olds beyond right/wrong answers. Opportunities are using observations, play based tasks and peer collaboration/student talk to guide instruction. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A3: I can fine-tune my language to emphasize effort (instead of just saying they’re wrong, I acknowledge effort and encourage to try again). Feedback that focuses on growth. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A2: teachers can promote a growth mindset by creating a supportive climate where mistakes are valued, use materials that show learning as a process, give students chance to explain, thinking, revise work, try again. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A1: Mindset can be challenging when students fear mistakes and give up easily. It can be a huge opportunity when they see mistakes as part of learning. They build confidence. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset

Good morning! This is a friendly warning about our upcoming high posts volume. We're hosting an #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset chat at 10AM (EST). You're welcome to join us.
@RutgersAltRoute A5: Schools can offer flexible support like extra time, we use small groups, clear instructions. All teachers should use visuals and check for understanding often. Schools should provide training and work closely with families to better support students with leaning disabilities
@RutgersAltRoute A4: I empower students by encouraging them to speak up about what they need, asking for help or even more time. I also celebrate their strengths so they feel confident. #TeacherEd#SpEd
@RutgersAltRoute A3: I create opportunities by using visuals, modeling and hands on activities. I use small groups, partner work and giving extra time and support. #TeacherEd#SpEd
@RutgersAltRoute A2: I’ve used flexible seating, movement breaks, and visual schedules to help students stay focused during class. I also give extra time when needed and sometimes break tasks into smaller steps. #TeacherEd#SpEd

@RutgersAltRoute A1: A challenge I encountered is meeting all students’ different needs at once. An opportunity I’ve seen is using visuals, small groups, and modeling to better support students with learning disabilities and help them feel included. #TeacherEd#SpEd
It's a great morning for a #TeacherEd Chat!
Today at 10AM, we'll be talking about Special Education. Consider this both an invitation to join us, as well as a friendly warning about our upcoming high post volume. #TeacherEd#SpEd chat!
A teacher who is aware of learning differences is responsive, observant, and flexible. They understand that students don’t all learn the same way or at the same pace, and they adjust their teaching to meet those different needs. #TeacherEd#DiverseLearners
@BeckRSaunders I love this and I agree. However, when giving an overall grade for the subject, there needs to be evidence on how/why they were given that grade. Which means there will be a lot of actual grading. How can we go around that?
The purpose of grading should not be to punish students for their mistakes, but to provide feedback that helps them improve. Thanks to @tguskey for his work on this important topic. #grading#feedback#improvement
