Napoleon on speed:
“Ask me for anything you like, except time. The loss of time is irreparable in war. Operations only fail through delays. One must be quick, decisive, and always move faster than the enemy expects.”
A relative of mine from to a reasonably prosperous family had started a posh restaurant in Hubli. He invested heavily, borrowed money from friends and relatives, and hoped the business would succeed. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. Within two years, the restaurant was forced to shut down due to mounting losses. The debts kept piling up. Creditors began demanding repayment. Unable to see a way out, he left home and went underground as circumstances had overwhelmed him immensely. He was recently married then and thought of taking care while taking care of his wife and children should be his first priority. For years, he lived a modest life doing odd jobs, carrying the burden of failure and debt on his shoulders. Those who had lent him money continued to pursue him, and many believed his he might even take his life.
But life had other plans.A few years later, he joined hands with some friends and started a small-scale factory in Pune. This time, the business slowly gained traction. Through hard work, patience, and perseverance, it began generating steady profits. Over the next decade, he repaid every rupee he owed. Not a single commitment was left unfulfilled. Today, he owns a beautiful multi-storey house in one of the posh localities of Vijayanagar, Bengaluru.
Whenever I think about his journey, I am reminded of one simple truth: never make decisions based on temporary problems. Life can be brutally difficult, but it also gives people opportunities to rebuild, recover, and come back stronger. Hold on through the tough times. Your comeback may be closer than you think.
The worst thing you can do to someone sharp minded and clever, is insult them by lying to them. They'll end up spotting your contradictions, or otherwise intuit something is off, and realise from that you can't be trusted.
You must be courageous enough to speak the brutal truth.
The lack of tan marks on their arms/forearms shows that these kids have never been out of their AC chambers
Compare them to Kar Sevaks who literally had no fear for their lives & screamed "Latthi goli khaenge, Mandir wahin banaenge" and laid their lives for Ram Mandir
And they talk about revolution by just drawing cartoons on the wall while wearing Adidas & Nike trousers😂😂
“How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?”
— Charles Bukowski
I can’t stress enough how true this is.
I am an average IQ person who had a major speech delay as a kid - to a point that I started to speak at 5yr mark. Tier 2 engineering school, tier 2 MBA school. Nothing exceptional.
But thanks to my Dad and his job, we kept moving. Bihar, Almora, UP, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Port Blair, MH. Education and job took me to Ribandar, BLR, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, London, Arizona, Toronto.
I never said no to a move - even if it meant signing a bond or taking a minor cut in pay. I ensured I never miss an after office event, industry conference, or say no to someone who is dragging me to meet someone.
I tried to be nice to most people in university. Rarely got brutal with people.
My travel and ability to speak 7 languages has helped me connect with so many people and one thing has led to another; I have been extremely lucky at so many different times thanks to people pulling me up.
Keep moving. Never stop, a moving man will meet his luck!
