For some students, school is their safe place… where they receive consistent food, where they feel most successful, where they are surrounded by kindness and love, and where they can just be themselves. All behaviors are communication. Respond first with empathy and compassion. Thank you for everything you do for our kids! Have an amazing and well-deserved summer break!

Most IEP accommodations, not all, are simply best teaching practices, so why can't we offer more of these to every student so that our classrooms become truly inclusive?

For example...copies of study guide at the beginning of the unit. Why wouldn't everyone benefit from that?

BL doesn't work for privileged kids either - their parents just have the ability to hire tutors to mitigate its effects. In an informal poll at our previous (very privileged, white) school, 3/5 parents said their kid had received tutoring - that's privatization at work, not BL.
