BREAKING: Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor delivers a bold rallying cry to the judiciary and tells judges to stand tall as Donald Trump's fascist attacks on the courts escalate.

This is exactly the kind of leadership America needs right now...

While she didn't mention Trump by name, it's clear what she was referring to. The president has been abusing his powers of office to wage out all out legal war on his political enemies, smearing judges, and extracting massive bro bono services from top law firms.

Not only that, but Trump continues to defy a ruling from the Supreme Court ordering him to return innocent Maryland father Kilmar Abrego Garcia from El Salvador.

The simple, undeniable truth is that Donald Trump does not believe in the rule. He sees the separation of powers as a barrier to accumulating more power for himself and he is determined to tear it down.

The Honorable Barbara Jean Lee is a trailblazing leader with few peers.

She was the first Black woman elected to represent Northern California in the State Assembly, State Senate, and U.S. Congress, and she will now serve as the 52nd mayor of Oakland.

Howard University will award Lee an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree at its May 2025 Commencement. Lee will receive this degree alongside her niece, also graduating from Howard!

She has worn many hats in her career, from promoting economic growth in her community to fighting for socioeconomic and LGBTQ+ equity in Congress to ensuring tax dollars were distributed to HBCUs to fighting HIV/AIDS.

“Prove yourself, work in your community, make the change that is necessary regardless of what your passion is…If public service is in your spirit, then do the work,” Lee said.
