The UK needs legislation to put Parliamentary & Cabinet roles & safeguards into law, not just old rules, procedures & conventions tht can be quashed by a tyrant
The EU is the biggest threat to the Tech Bro Oligarchy.
The EU commission is one of the few organisations with power to strip power from the uber-rich of America.
Vance et al are working for their sponsors to protect Elon's data grab & strip federal government of all it's powers.
@David90shaw Mine has no smart phones

They still had music, friends, social life.
It can be done.
@IanCart07103146@TomSoede Show the facts for the crippling facts of nett zero and I'll show you a simple video showing we are on the verge of energy independence.
@Oates1592@JimQuirkesq@LabourfutureUK Tell me how nett zero is destroying the UK economy.
Show me your figures and facts where renewable energy is keeping prices high and I will show you they reduce cost very soon.
@schuey32@jackabbott90 Nett Zero is about two things
(1) Carbon removal from energy generation.
(2) Removing the UK from the volatile energy costs imposed by external sources - energy independence.
Some will say the first is bunk
However no one can argue with the second especially when cost will fall
@OllieReedFC@justdavenow89 It's not going bankrupt because of Nett Zero.
Show me your facts, show me where you got this idea from and I'll happily show you a simple video (and others if needed) showing how close we are to the full renewable roll out.
Deal?
@BasilTheGreat The wording is deliberately misleading.
You appear to have taken a long-term IMF statistic covering about 2001โ2026 and attribute it to a government that has been in office for less than two years.
You are lying.
@Artemisfornow Mature economies are struggling to find new economic activities to fill those that we foolishly allowed corps to destroy.
AI is a 2026 version of automation in the 20th century. We need to tax machines that take jobs.
However don't conflate renewables with other economic issues.
@RealCarlVernon Please write an essay (short if you wish) on your of this subject.
Add facts (not feelings, not observation, not any confirmation bias) to prove or at least promote your point of view.
I'd love to read it and discuss.
Facts are important, not feelings or bias.
@CoderPW@stuey_beef I didn't say I wasn't for a mixed economy but people need to know that Billionaires, Corporations, Banks etc are not there for the good of the people. The total consumer power v corporate power collapsed probably around COVID when new ways were investigated by them to profit more
@CoderPW@stuey_beef And I was talking about stock market corporations like Sainsbury's.
You can go on about everything else if you wish but Sainsbury's is a listed company.
@CoderPW@stuey_beef Why companies lay off workers.
It's shareholders in the stock market
Corps want to keep shareholders or stocks fall in value.
The shareholders want 'value' from shares. Ie: dividends
The quickest way is to cut jobs (costs) & then have a lower cost to income ratio
Payouts!
@CoderPW@stuey_beef BS
Lots of very successful companies do without being traded on the stock exchange.
Let's put it this way 98% of companies are not on the stock market!
Not just cooperatives but almost all SME.
No, don't believe the stock market or communism argument.
@ThatAlexWoman First they came for EU workers
Then they came for immigrants
They came for asylum seekers
They started on the disabled
They come now for gay people
They'll come for you too.
Just wait.
