Kang Daniel Wins Appellate Court Ruling ⚖️✨ Singer Kang Daniel has won the appeal in a 700M KRW (~$520k USD) damages lawsuit filed by Genie Music over concert revenue shortfalls! Yesterday (21st), the Seoul High Court overturned the 1st instance decision, ruling fully in favor of Kang Daniel. What happened? Back in June 2022, a 2.2B KRW performance contract was signed for 1 year of domestic & overseas concerts. After shows in Seoul, Philippines, Thailand, etc., a ~710M KRW deficit remained. Genie Music sued, and the 1st court initially ordered ~400M KRW in damages due to the former agency's promo/planning responsibilities. Why the court ruled in Daniel's favor: The appellate court determined that Kang Daniel faithfully fulfilled all of his performance obligations under the contract, making it unfair to hold him personally liable. The court also noted Genie Music raised the issue months after the contract ended and never requested extra shows to cover the deficit. Justice served! 🎉
