The funny thing about the 2027 YZ250F is that Yamaha completely redesigned the thing… and then made it look almost exactly the same. 😂🔵
Josh Mosiman at Hold Fast Media pointed out that if you watched a 2026 and 2027 ride past each other, the biggest giveaway might honestly be the SOUND. Visually, Yamaha didn’t go crazy with new plastics or graphics even though there’s a ton going on underneath.
The engine is all new. The transmission is new. The clutch is new. The frame is revised. The rear shock is new. The rear brake system changed. The starter system changed. The intake and exhaust were reworked.
Mosiman even said the 2027 YZ250F now shares more with the current YZ450F than it does with the previous-generation YZ250F.
So this is one of those bikes where the spec sheet tells a completely different story than the bodywork.
It looks like a familiar Yamaha sitting on the stand… but underneath, this is basically a new-generation machine. 👀🔥

One small 2027 YZ250F update that could actually matter a lot more than it sounds: Yamaha finally fixed the slow-starting behavior. 🔵⚡
Cycle News and Dirt Bike Test both called this out immediately.
Previous YZ250Fs could sit there and crank for what felt like forever before firing, especially on cold starts. Cycle News even joked about sitting on the line at off-road races watching everyone else leave while the Yamaha was still “spooling up.” 😂
The 2027 gets a redesigned electric-start system with a new starter motor and revised layout, and both outlets said the difference is obvious. Hit the button and it fires much quicker.
That’s not exactly the sexy headline when the bike also has a new engine, frame, transmission and hydraulic clutch...
But if you’ve ever stalled a bike during a race, sometimes the boring little update is the one you appreciate the most. 😂🔥
