@nicolejcomms I believe so. I choose to discuss politics face to face because in my experience that’s where I see the most change. Maybe you’ve had a different experience. I’m also not against others using Twitter for politics - I only said I generally choose not to. I have my own reasons.
I know a lot of people use Twitter as a political platform, but I do not. I’m here to be a part of a writing community, not get into arguments. That said: Let’s be respectful of each other’s opinions even if you don’t agree. We’re writers; we should do better than name calling.
@Dforwn I mean I think reminders are always good for people. And just based on the responses to the tweet I think there are enough people who agree for it to matter. Sometimes people get overly zealous and just need a reminder to be nice. Myself included!
@nicolejcomms Well I made the personal decision not to talk politics on Twitter because I’ve never seen someone change their mind on Twitter, only double down. I’d rather speak face to face because I think Twitter allows people to feel safe saying nasty things behind a screen.
@nicolejcomms I would agree. I think some people are misinterpreting or aren’t reading my original tweet very carefully: all I was calling for was civility. And I think if we can’t be civil, maybe we should stay quiet until we can be. Angry words and name calling usually aren’t helpful.
@Keidi_Keating Here’s the paperback link for my debut Turn of the Hourglass, but there are hardcover and kindle versions available. It’s the first of two fantasy books that will prelude a 9-book series in case anyone wants a world to dive into!
