Congratulations to my
amazing daughter @katieanding the sports RD for the @Rangers and the trip to the WS. First mother daughter sports RD duo to do this!
Excited to get the first paper from our exploratory study published! We investigated what foods and dietary patterns may influence cognitive performance. With these findings, we have designed interventions to improve cognition in various populations.

We wanted to answer the applied question “can I periodise CHO with athletes during a heat acclimation camp?” Based on our data, probably not from the outset! That said, at what point following initial exposure you could start remains to be resolved.
@SHPNdpg will host our sports nutrition symposium March9-11. Have you ever wondered about the pros and cons of exercise in those athletes struggling with disordered eating. Come listen to Dr. Chorley, a sports medicine MD outline the challenges!
Coffee lovers, pay attention.
A recent analysis with over 400k people found that drinking 2-3 cups of ground, instant, or decaffeinated coffee/day is associated with a significant reduction in CVD and all-cause mortality vs. never drinking coffee (PMID: 36162818).
Coffee wins!
We (@Jlnlouis, @dan_owie & @BrocherieF) recently shared our view on remote data collection. Have a read here: https://t.co/b4EXgtfrss (ours is first!)
Here’s our home-based study that helped us form our viewpoint: https://t.co/mK4657Tcki
Mediterranean Diet v. IF….
“it is thought that the most effective nutritional therapy that can be preferred for healthy weight loss is the energy-restricted MD model.”
Just in time especially since I am about to start my PhD soon.
A book by Dr @ZJAyres, anyone with access to Springer via their affiliation can download it here:

A study on elite Kenyan runners found that 76% of their diet was carbohydrate.
20% of their diet was pure sugar.
We like to demonize and simplify diet into good/evil... Reality is much more complex and nuanced.
If you're running a ton, carbs are your best friend.
Pretty excited to be hosting our 3rd annual Texas Sports Nutrition Symposium in a little less than 2 weeks. Lectures from @stevemagness@cashford_@BonnieGSportsMD@C4_Biomechanist and more.
