🚨 New scam attempt today disguised as a client meeting.

We had a “new client” reach out about work opportunities and setting up a team meeting.
Nothing unusual… until the invite arrived.

Meeting link? ❌ Not StreamYard
Domain? ❌ Fake lookalike URL
Instruction? 🚩 “Download our application” because the browser version supposedly wasn’t good enough.

There’s just one problem…
StreamYard DOESN’T HAVE A DESKTOP INSTALLER.
It runs in your browser.

No EXE.
No DMG.
No “special meeting app”.

The playbook is simple:
1️⃣ Create urgency (“team waiting”, “meeting now”)
2️⃣ Use a trusted brand name
3️⃣ Send a lookalike domain
4️⃣ Get you to install malware / credential stealers

In this case the domain was:
https://t.co/RnkRgNrYXo
NOT StreamYard.
That subdomain trick catches people because they only see the word streamyard and stop reading.

This stuff is everywhere now.
Recruiters. Podcast invites. Webinar requests. Crypto partnerships. Influencer interviews.

Before you click:
✔ Check the root domain
✔ Ask “why do I need software?”
✔ Verify with official docs
✔ Assume every download request is hostile until proven otherwise

The funniest part?
I replied:
“Please tell me you are NOT trying to scam me?”
…silence 😅

Stay careful out there. The scams are getting better, but the fundamentals never change.

If a meeting needs malware to happen… it probably wasn’t a meeting.

🚨 Our sister agency just completed one of the largest forensic crypto investigations and located the funds!

When the victim contacted us, the damage was devastating.
💰 Estimated losses exceeded $4.5M USD.
🔎 Our investigation traced funds across:
• Multiple financial institutions
• Multiple crypto exchanges
• Compromised wallets
• Consolidation hubs
• Mixer activity
• Exchange-linked wallets

• Amazingly ONE wallet is still holding 42+ BTC  at time of reporting

What made this case different?
This wasn’t “someone hacked my wallet.”
This was a multi-phase social engineering operation:
➡️ Romance / trust-building phase lasting months
➡️ Fake exchange support impersonation
➡️ SafePal wallet compromise
➡️ Seed phrase theft
➡️ Use of the victim’s OWN verified exchange accounts to move funds
➡️ Fraudulent documents impersonating exchange personnel

One detail hit hard:
The victim allegedly borrowed against investments and routed funds through legitimate accounts believing they were protecting assets.
That’s the danger of these scams.
They don’t attack technology first.
They attack people.

Our forensic work identified:
✅ Wallet layers
✅ Transaction chains
✅ Exchange touchpoints
✅ KYC leverage points
✅ Suspect aliases
✅ Active wallets
✅ Recovery pathways for counsel & law enforcement

Crypto investigations are not magic.

🚨 UPDATE: Remember the “Generational Wealth” Investment Opportunity I Warned About? It Got Worse.

A while back I posted about spending hours researching a project for a veteran investment professional after she approached me.

I laid out all the red flags.
Tokenomics issues.
Marketing structure concerns.
Unrealistic claims.
The risk to her professional reputation if she started bringing investors into it.

The response?
I became the villain.
I was called an idiot. Told I didn’t understand. The project was supposedly going to “change lives.”

Well… they now have a website.
And honestly, it raises even more concerns.
🚩 “Lifetime monthly income” claims
🚩 Heavy emphasis on wealth / income lifestyle outcomes over product utility
🚩 “Financial freedom” style messaging that seems to lead the narrative
🚩 Vague DeFi positioning without obvious technical depth
🚩 Strong recruitment-style energy vs product-first discussion
🚩 Extraordinary return expectations

But here’s what worries me:
When someone with a trusted financial background starts promoting something with outsized return expectations and recruitment energy, it’s no longer just their risk.

It becomes everyone they bring in.

And that’s how good people end up holding the bag for bad actors.

I spent 2+ hours for FREE trying to protect someone’s reputation and potentially the savings of future investors.
No good deed goes unpunished sometimes.

My rule remains simple:
If the returns sound insane…
If the lifestyle pitch is bigger than the technology…
If recruiting seems more important than utility…
Slow down.
Ask harder questions.

Because crypto doesn’t need another “generational wealth” story ending in tears.

🚨 “I found $5,000 Bitcoin Miners for only $500 each!”
That was how the conversation started today.

Client reaches out excited because he thought he found the deal of the century on AliExpress.

High-end Antminer units… listed for roughly 10% of market value.

Too good to be true?
Yep.

Here’s how it played out:
1️⃣ Initial order placed
2️⃣ Seller says: “Let’s cancel the platform order and pay directly in Bitcoin for a better deal”
3️⃣ Client sends BTC 💸
4️⃣ Fake tracking number appears 📦
5️⃣ Then comes the classic: “Customs/import fees due” — almost 50% of the ~$7k already paid
6️⃣ More Bitcoin sent 💸💸
7️⃣ Now? They keep asking for MORE money for machines that likely never existed.

Spent about 20 minutes walking through how these scams work for FREE as a service to help him understand.

And honestly… this one isn’t even new.

It’s the same psychology every time:
🧠 Create urgency
💰 Massive discount
🔒 Move payment off platform
₿ Ask for irreversible crypto payments
📦 Keep inventing fees until the victim stops paying

The hardest part?
By the time people call, they’re often already emotionally committed because they don’t want to believe they got caught.

Look… if someone is selling $5k miners for $500, you did NOT discover a secret wholesale channel.

You discovered the scam.

Be careful out there.

Feels like there’s a new scheme every day in crypto and AI right now.
