We know that because instead of redeeming himself, the Sith Lord kills his master and takes his master's place.

This makes the film every bit as predictable as if it just did a beat for beat reconstruction of the original trilogy.

TLJ is *not* ESB.

We know that because the big twist is inverted. (Rey isn't descended from anyone special)

And for clarity, the problem with the #StarWars sequels is not that they're too "woke" or preachy or anything like that. It's that they are a sloppy uncreative mess that actively tries to live in the shadow of the original trilogy.

Look, the #StarWars sequels are terrible. I defended them while they were coming out. But much like how season 8 makes #GameOfThrones as a whole suck, the finished product casts a bad light on the entire trilogy and on the entire "Skywalker Saga."

The #Prequels are good if you don't watch them. What does that mean? Well, the concepts they added to the lore made the universe richer. But actually watching them is a truly painful cinematic experience. At least for me. #StarWars
