With the Prendergast schools set to academise, there are negotiations over terms + conditions. The Governing Body proposed new staff should be on worse Ts+Cs. Though they've now retreated, parents and carers have launched a petition to defend staff Ts+Cs.

Please vote for David Gore and Miguel Stucchi – using the link sent from [email protected] (not via ParentMail), email subject “Leathersellers’ Federation Elections”. (If you can’t see check your junk folder.) 4/4
Elections are taking place for parent members of the Leathersellers' Federation governing bodies.
For the Federation-wide, ie not just school-level, seats, we are advocating voting for David Gore and Miguel Stucchi (you can pick two of the three candidates). 🧵
An attitude that is constructive but simultaneously independent of the Federation powers-that-be; strong support for a genuinely public, democratic education system; and connections and mutual support between parents and school staff and their unions. 3/4

The Governing Body only retreated from its earlier proposals under pressure from staff unions. It seems essential, both for workers' rights and the future of the schools, to help them keep up this kind of pressure.
More broadly, of course, academies often see an erosion of terms and conditions.
Ensuring staff suffer no detriment is crucial to maintaining and improving the quality of our children’s education; particularly important during a dire recruitment and retention crisis in schools.

So. The DfE can determine that Ofsted might not be ‘helpful’ at MAT level. Sounds like the unhelpful impact on individual schools is not considered as considerately. Individual schools and school leaders are presumably dispensable? MATs are not?
Parentmail (in image) sent by @LSFederation today. 'We continue to engage with all stakeholders to bring the current strike action to an end as soon as possible.'
Meaningful & fair compromise with unions would help bring an end to strike action. NEU reps response in retweet.
