Sitting in Cafe Leopold is something straight out of a 80’s movie.
The traditional honk and hoot can be heard from outside. No new age aircon just good old school roof fans hovering away. Chaos as waiters squeeze between tightly packed seating. Mixed lighting as they can’t afford to replace what’s broken. Same manager since 2008. The customary American drinking a Budweiser. Weirdly awesome.
I love this place
THE COBRA EFFECT
During the British Raj, officials grew concerned about the rising number of venomous cobras in Delhi. To tackle the issue, they introduced a bounty for every dead snake.
At first, the policy seemed successful, many cobras were killed.
But soon, an unintended consequence appeared. Enterprising locals began breeding cobras to claim the reward. Once the government realised this loophole and scrapped the bounty programme, the breeders released their now-worthless snakes.
The result? The cobra population surged to even higher levels than before.
This episode is remembered as the Cobra Effect, a classic example of how well-meaning incentives can backfire, producing the exact opposite of the intended outcome
BREAKING: Switzerland 🇨🇭 has banned the Burqa and will not allow Muslim women from covering their faces in public, starting January 1, 2025.
Should more European countries follow suit?
I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. Equally appalling are the cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats. Such acts of violence will never weaken India’s resolve. We expect the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law.
"Is hijab a compulsion?"
"Not at all. Look at me. I don't wear it, and nobody forces me to. But I support anyone who chooses to wear."
"Then why do you stay silent when women in Iran are killed for not wearing it?"
"Look, I'm a proud Indian Muslim feminist. I don't speak on other countries' matters."
"But you do. You frequently speak about Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran regarding their conflicts with Israel. So why not about Iran’s oppression of people’s choices?"
"Since I don't have an answer to that, how about I just label you Islamophobic and be done with it?"
"Brilliant. You won."
I strongly condemn the barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities who are getting attacked and looted by mobs in Bangladesh, which remains in a total state of chaos.
It would have never happened on my watch. Kamala and Joe have ignored Hindus across the world and in America. They have been a disaster from Israel to Ukraine to our own Southern Border, but we will Make America Strong Again and bring back Peace through Strength!
We will also protect Hindu Americans against the anti-religion agenda of the radical left. We will fight for your freedom. Under my administration, we will also strengthen our great partnership with India and my good friend, Prime Minister Modi.
Kamala Harris will destroy your small businesses with more regulations and higher taxes. By contrast, I cut taxes, cut regulations, unleashed American energy, and built the greatest economy in history. We will do it again, bigger and better than ever before—and we will Make America Great Again.
Also, Happy Diwali to All. I hope the Festival of Lights leads to the Victory of Good over Evil!
Indian railway is a scam.
Trains are late by 8-10 hours. I booked a train to go home for the festival, and the night before, I found out that the train was going to be 8 hours late. So, I canceled that booking and booked another train, and I only got a refund of 1050/-. I don't know how many of you are aware of this, but if a train is more than 3-4 hours late, you can file a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) and get a complete refund. I did that, but I didn't receive the refund. Now, in this situation, what's the fault of a middle class person? Just that they're middle class? Indian Railways, please sort this out this is becoming worse day by day. @IRCTCofficial@AshwiniVaishnaw
