23 juillet 1969, enregistrement du titre qui clôturera le medley et l'album Abbey Road, chanson cachée mise à part évidemment.
A ce stade de l'enregistrement, le titre s'appelle encore "Ending". Une chanson unique à plus d'un titre. Unique parce qu'elle contient le seul solo de batterie de la carrière de Ringo Starr. Unique parce que Paul, George et John se succèdent au solo de guitare, chacun dans son style et sa propre sonorité. Unique parce qu'elle ne contient que quelques mots mais quels mots ! Des paroles en épilogue qui deviendront les plus célèbres de l'histoire du rock. Des paroles "cosmiques" comme disait John quand, en 1980, il déclarait sarcastiquement que Paul pouvait "faire de bonnes paroles quand il s'en donnait la peine". John et Paul quoi...
Cette chanson est surtout le plus beau testament du monde.
